Since I know how much you guys love the opportunity to win free food to restaurants which have gained my seal of approval, I am proud to announce that we have another excellent giveaway which starts today! Thanks to Tony, the owner of Galaxie Diner in Apple Valley, there is a $25 gift certificate waiting for one lucky reader out there.
As always, being as generous as I am, there are multiple ways for you to enter and each one gets you one entry into the contest so be sure to take advantage of all of them:
1. Post a comment below.
2. RT @SouthMetroNews’ post on Twitter or tweet the URL to this post (you must have a public Twitter feed for this to work). If you aren’t using Twitter, you can sign up for an account here.
3. Become a fan of Lazy Lightning on Facebook (new fans only sorry to you early adopters! — updated: anyone who is already a fan is set, yay for Facebook sucking!):
4. Bonus entry for what I deem to be the 5 best comments posted :-)

Galaxy Diner Yo! I’ve been anxious to go there again but have been wrapped up and trying to get rid of food in a freezer at home. I see I am still the Mayor there (http://foursquare.com), I’m surprised how few folks around are using foursquare. I keep wanting to hit it for Breakfast on a weekend.
I’m also considering stopping by to take advantage of the couch and wifi with my notebook and maybe try a malt and just hang and stream some Pandora. Actually now that I think about it, it might mix with the issue I have with Biking and needing places to go. http://www.lazylightning.org/biking-poll I could throw a back pack on with my laptop inside and ride over to the Diner for lunch during the weekend. Hmm, this summer is looking up.
Regardless, for sure a stop will happen some night this week.

Hmmmm….
Enraged Man Sues Apple Valley Blogger
Claims “Best Comments” Judgment Violates Civil Rights
(Reuters) Burnsville, MN
A $25 gift certificate might not be the only thing coming out of south metro Blogger Bill Roehl’s wallet in the near future.
The anti-government, female-mayor-hating, foul mouthed, retro geek-bike riding Apple Valley radical may also be staring at a hefty civil judgment if one yet-to-be-identified blog follower has his way.
Roehl, who was served a summons by Apple Valley PD while tiptoeing around broken glass outside the locked MVTA transit station this morning, is being accused of discrimination by a longtime blog follower and former friend who could only be identified by his handle, ‘MSPD’.
“Shocked. Just shocked,” Roehl exclaimed upon reading the court summons.
“I mean, the guy is gregarious, extremely knowledgeable about restaurants, food and local culture, a brilliant commenter to the site, has a mastery of the written word, is the inspiration behind basically all of my great blog ideas, and I have to admit, really easy on the eyes. Very, very handsome.”
A 75-page manifesto delivered to the offices of Thisweek, marked only with the return address of a young family from the Echo Park area, may not do much to clear up the question of why, but did hint that a series of humiliating contest losses and invitations to “friends and family” and blog fan nights at incredibly lousy restaurants may have led to the suit.
“I’ve watched him send ‘his people’ to exotic Satay 2 Go, Ronin, Blue Ox and now Galaxie. I give and I give and I give. And the man gives me Ansari’s. Molly Cool’s. Smashburger. I’m reading a whole lot of hate between the lines. A whole lot of hate, man.”
What is unclear, though, is exactly what group the unnamed complainant is accusing Roehl of marginalizing as sources say both Roehl and the man are white, 30-something dads and, unless you know them, virtually indistinguishable.
The three other followers of Roehl’s blog, LazyLightning.org, had a variety of reactions, none of which really contributed anything to the issue at hand.
“MSPD is probably the funniest guy I’ve ever encountered online,” said a commenter called Mrs. Marcos.
“And I agree with Bill. I’ve seen what he looks like and if I wasn’t married I would slather him up with Coke and Chili’s riblets and it would be lights out for at least a long weekend.”
Commenter ‘UpWiththeMooses’ stayed on the fence.
“These morons are both in my voting district and I have ambitions beyond the lousy District 196 School Board, you know. All I care is that they, and everyone else in this lame suburb, think I give a damn and I can suck them all for a huge levy in November and golden parachute when I become superintendent in a couple years. Hey, is that microphone on?”
ThoughtLeader, a prolific poster to LazyLightning didn’t comment about the lawsuit besides blaming it on Mayor Elizabeth Kautz.
“I really don’t care unless it ends up shutting the site down and taking away my best avenue for insisting on the Mayor’s resignation. Thisweek won’t print my letters to the editor because they’re ‘too long’ and that restraining order keeps me from Council meetings. And I’m tired of paying off Crichton with trips to bingo and the Old Country Buffet.”
Dakota County has set an April 1 trial date, way the hell down in Hastings.
March 8th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
Um I think it was more like “Shocked, just fucking shocked!” Everyone knows Roehl is a prolific cusser.
Mmmm Chili’s.
March 8th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
You know, I get a lot of grief when I curse in posts but no one seems to say a fucking word when I go for over two months w/o using one.
Oh, MSPD, thanks for that wonderful showmanship but my random comment query is set for:
WHERE comment_author not in (‘Bill’,'MSPD’)
Sorry ;-)
March 8th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
MSPD must be eliminated from the competition. Everyone knows the revenue for the additional blog traffic his comments generate pay for at least two additional $25 gift certificates that are split between MSPD and Bill.
March 8th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
“You know, I get a lot of grief when I curse in posts but no one seems to say a fucking word when I go for over two months w/o using one.”
Oh, we all noticed, but the side bet action on how long you could hold out prevented anyone from commenting about it. (And WTG moron, I had you down for lasting 3 months. You just had to blow it today, didn’t you?)
March 8th, 2010 at 3:16 pm
I don’t think comments count in Bill’s book. If they do, I don’t think it’s been 2 months…
March 8th, 2010 at 3:30 pm
I said “posts” not “comments” ;-)
March 8th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
MSPD must not have a job. I think he needs the free food. Quite amusing! Can’t top it. Hats off.

I took the whole family over to Galaxie Diner a few weeks ago. We all ordered something different and we all enjoyed our food. We had a great dinner and a good time. We will go back! It would be great to see this business thrive in Apple Valley.
March 9th, 2010 at 3:35 am
I ate at Galaxie Diner, everything they serve is absolutely original and exquisite, just like in California (I live in California 4 months of every year) finally I don’t miss California restaurants because I can have most of it right here in Apple Valley. I can’t believe that I can eat a burger here that is better than in Orange County were the California Burger was invented. The Cokes are excellent, all imported from California, and not too expensive, unless you ask for the “Diet Cherry Coke” that is one of the very best California Cokes, made on the foothills of Napa Valley near Vallejo. I recommend Galaxie Diner to all the elite and the middle class citizens of South areas. “They also have table cloths on the table like in California, producing an original atmosphere. Eat up!”

Great post Joey!
March 9th, 2010 at 7:33 am
I don’t know if its the exquisite homegrown tomatoes, the hand crafted buns, or the delicious grass fed black angus home made beef patties which are pressed on the thighs of local virgins that makes this such a magnificent dining experience. Oh wait.. I’m thinking of the Italian place.
And bytheway muthafucker.. I noticed that you weren’t using America’s favorite adjective either. ANd may just have mentioned it to you.
Fucking kids… never appreciate old folks.
