After a day of some serious caching in Omaha, Dave and I checked into the hotel and cleaned up before heading out to dinner at Austin’s Steakhouse. They came highly recommended by the hotel desk clerk because of their excellent food, great service, and good prices.
We made the short trip to the restaurant and walked in. We arrived a little later than the dinner rush (about 8:45) and the place was virtually empty. I chose their Prime Rib special ($16.99 for a huge slab of Prime Rib, choice of potato, and salad bar). Dave ordered a T-bone and some fried mushrooms.
After our trip to their ample salad bar we munched on some biscuits with honey butter and the excellent fried mushrooms. Soon after I was done w/the salad my steak arrived. Cooked to absolute perfection, tender as could be, and drenched in their superb red wine mushroom sauce.
I savored every moment and can’t wait to return. If you’re ever in Omaha, NE and you’re looking for a great steak at a decent price, I seriously recommend Austin’s Steaks and Saloon.
