For the second time this week I got a call from a “research company” that is looking for my opinions on things. Before they can make it into their questions I immediately ask them what time it is. They reply with “6:45pm sir”. I ask, “and what are people usually doing at this point in time during the evening?” Her reply, “eating dinner sir…”
Right, eating dinner. Just like I was doing on Tuesday night when they called and today (Saturday) when they called. I love wasting their time. So I sit there until they are about to hang up and ask for a supervisor. I usually spend 10 more minutes wasting the supervisor’s time as well. Maybe I’m putting them over their scheduled break time and they have to wait until the next 15 minute interval to clock out to their break. There is always hope.
So today, because the supervisor was so willing to talk to me I asked for HER home phone number so that I could call her at home twice a week at 6:45pm when SHE was eating dinner. She gave me 402-439-2400 which Google immediately told me was Braun Research, Inc of Nebraska. I told her I knew it would be fake and she told me that she “had real work to do” and ended our conversation.
I was happy to surf their website and even submit a fake request for a survey quote to let them know just how awesome “Nikki” was.
I really wish that *ALL* unwanted solicitations for information were banned under the DNC legislation. If I had to guess, they use those lists not only to stop calling you for sales but also to own you with this “research”.
The upside to this is I have an outlet for my frustrations twice a week when they call. I love wasting their time and having them hang up on me in the most unprofessional manner. Ahhh — the simple joys in life.

I like to tell them I need to find my wallet, then set the phone down and ignore them for a while. See how long you can get them to stay on the line. You can drag it out if you keep yelling, “Still looking.”

I always tell them that I’m going to get the head of the household and then do the same thing… Too bad they know about that game :(
Today we got a call from the biggest DNC list violator. The carpet cleaning people. For some reason they continuously call and leave messages. I never remember to get their number and report them :( Kim took the call today and got a live person but didn’t get their number either. How am I supposed to effectively pwn them when I don’t know their name to Googlebomb? ;)

i work at a survey place. i enjoy it most of the time just to find out information, i understand not wanting to take a survey and getting frustrated on the other end of the phone, but i just wish people would say take me off your list, we wont call them back. i also would like them to realize that i and others in my position, (as i am not a supervisor) do not have any control over which number is called. i am a very patient person and put customer service above all, so i play the waiting game, i only wish i did not have to.

Just tell them to take you off of their list. They won’t cal back. It’s that simple I worked there. We do not appreciate being jerked around as you do not enjoy getting calls back every day just politely as to be taken off the list and you will never get a call back again..
