cute little sticks of butter! originally uploaded by littlegreenfroggy
Last week’s poll asked if you still read the newspaper. While I wasn’t really clear about my meaning of “reading the newspaper,” what I really meant was whether or not people read a physical copy of the newspaper but whatever. Anyway, the results of the poll are in and the majority of people still do read the newspaper but with 15 people voting against it, I’d guess the thought that they are going the way of the dinosaur is correct.
Anyway, this week’s poll comes after a week of having my parents in town helping out with the new baby and cooking comfort foods to fill out freezer. We have Blue Gentian Farm turkey soup (many, many quarts), stuffed cabbage, meatloaf, and meatballs. We have my father’s famous tomato sauce (which is also on the Blue Gentian Farm meatballs, in the stuffed cabbage, etc), sausage peppers and onions, chicken pot pies, etc, etc, etc.
Now, when we went shopping for this stuff we did it with mostly organic ingredients. Obviously the Blue Gentian Farm ground beef but we also picked up plenty of other stuff from Valley Natural Foods. One of these was butter from Hope Creamery. Now, while it’s pricey as hell, it’s also some of the best butter you’re going to find in Minnesota. I used to be a margarine user–a heavy one actually–but recently I’ve found the true virtues in using real, actual, butter.

So the question for you today is whether you use margarine or butter. Perhaps you use neither and have some other alternative you prefer instead. Whatever you have to say about your choice go ahead and comment on and then feel free to check out our expired polls in the archive or read through the previous posts about polls here.
