I’m pretty sure that is what I endure Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. ;)

not a fan of spankings simply because there are better primary means to discourage bad behavior. We had great success with isolation (sent to your room) and nose in the corner. The key is start very…very early, do not bargain, assert your authority, praise for good behavior and pusish bad behavior. Show children that you care about them by showing them you care how they behave.
They eat it up.

Whipping kids with cords is assault, and far outside the bounds of acceptable punishment, even if the parent is doing it in a calm and collected manner.

I have a close friend who was abused as a child, decades ago. Electrical cords were one of his mother’s favorite weapons of choice, so I guess they qualify as “traditional.” Heaven knows a person needs a weapon when they’re taking on someone a fraction of their size.

These are not examples of corporate punishment. They are examples of assault. As for the question of whether these two stories represent an outburst of electrical cords, I suspect it’s just coincidence. Even sloppy reporters require three of kind, rather than two, to call it a trend.

Coporal punishment makes parents feel better, does nothing for kids. Proven out time and time again. All it shows is tha as parent you have a lack of pateince and problem solving skills.
