Right on the heels of word that previously bankrupt Burnsville City Councilmember Dan Gustafson quit his job and began work on opening a food truck, I heard from a reader that he’s now planning to produce a weekly community TV show on interesting people and businesses in town. It’s almost as if the Burnsville City Council was jealous of all the stupidity going on in Farmington and Lakeville and decided their recent downgrade to “mostly boring” by the local media had to move back in the other direction.
It’s really nice to hear that Dan is doing something other than sitting around the house spending his days working diligently on a half a month’s worth of work on finding out the local regulatory issues surrounding the opening of a food truck. In addition, it must be comforting to the Burnsville taxpayer that one of their city leaders can really turn around their life following a bankruptcy and failure to pay taxes on time by quitting their job and then using taxpayer funded resources to create a TV show about a topic they know little about. However, many must feel Councilmember Dan Gustafson’s excellent business sense and close contact with the members of his constituency will build a show completely worthy of the tens of viewers he’s likely to draw.
Even so, it is nice to know that a member of the Burnsville City Council who is known for not listening to his constituency and purposefully avoiding council meetings while sitting at a bar he helped run into the ground is going to be talking about interesting people and businesses in a city he clearly doesn’t care all that much about.
What do you think about Dan Gustafson’s new career as a self-created TV show anchor doing what Jeff Achen did three years ago? Do you like that he’s going to be using taxpayer funded tools and take up space in a facility to create a show few are likely to watch with any real interest? Are you looking forward to the comedic gold which will come from this non-paying venture? Whatever you have to say about this one go ahead and comment on as I’d love to hear your thoughts.
