Last week’s poll asked if you had any adverse reactions to anestesia. The woman in the video was hilarious but I react poorly to it and am miserable for days after. It appears that most people either have no idea, never had it, or also react poorly. Very few people who responded were hilarious–what a bummer.
This weeks poll comes from a dream I had last night which is the first I really remember in great detail in quite some time. For whatever reason I was driving someone from NYC to Minnesota and I was looking to get home quickly. We were about to hit traffic and I saw a way to get around the jam by leaving the highway and entering a wealthy subdivision. Once we entered the subdivision we got lost in the tangle of roads, many of which did not line up to the GPS and map. We got out of the car to ask directions and found ourselves in the middle of a farm where they trained chickens to herd cattle.
First, two chickens they called “militant Master Sergeants” would run through the group of cattle and get them ready to be herded. Then the head chicken they called a “Captain Chicken” would simply make a shrill call and all the cattle would line up behind them in a straight line and head into the barn or pen. That was the end of the dream. Weird as anything I’ve ever dreamed I guess.

Mostly the ones I remember are the nightmares. I can remember a dream where I lost my son on a train and another one where I dispatched a person in the bathtub to this day. I do think I have many weird dreams. This mornings involved not being able to get out of the way of a tornado.

Perhaps once a year I will recall any dream I have. Otherwise I could claim I don’t dream, though I know all people dream, just not all can retain them. My wife dreams like a maniac, often vivid, and generally very weird. When she recounts them for me, most involve her and or her sisters and running away from people, things. both bad and good dreams, though I usually hear about the bad.
I can recall dreaming when I was a child, both at night as well as day dreams that were very vivid. I can recall one dream that sticks with me today. I had fallen asleep while visiting great grandparents at their home in Ortonville, MN. I think I had just read the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and was probably 7 or so. I dreamed that I was walking in a wooded park down the hill from my grandparents. It was near dusk and I was following a creek that ran through the park. Then it got weird. The water flowed into a tunnel and around the tunnel were dancing lights, and music from a calliope, like a fun house. Then I woke up.

I have a lot of plane crash dreams.
Half the time I am on the plane that is crashing, the other half I am witnessing them (usually more than one) crash from my vantage point on the ground (which is usually from the 5th fairway on Inverwood Golf Course).
I had one just last night. I was in a 747 coming home from Japan and my plane started to lose altitude right after takeoff over downtown Tokyo. (I have never been to Japan nor flown in a 747).
Can someone please psychoanalyze me?
