Last week’s poll asking if you have attended the Minnesota State Fair yet showed that the majority of you have attended but the surprising part comes that many of you are just not going. We haven’t headed over there yet but are planning on closing out our holiday weekend with a trip to the fair. I appreciate everyone’s comments on what is good and what they like–we’ll have a post up after we return home!
After my mother said that she was in the mood for a burger tonight my wife and I went through a couple of local places (not Kings, boo) that had decent burgers. I remembered that Junior’s is closed on Sunday evenings (I called to check–no answer), so we headed over to Houlihan’s instead. While not a place I’d typically say had great burgers, it had a menu that we knew they’d like and have plenty of options to choose from. My wife and I both ordered burgers and my mother ended up not ordering one–brat! Our burgers were absolutely huge but all of their options included cheese unless you wanted to “build your own” and not include it. Our oversized burgers were perfectly cooked and were tasty but I personally prefer hamburgers myself. So afterward we decided to ask what everyone else prefers…hamburger or cheeseburger.
Hamburger vs Cheeseburger
- Cheeseburger (72.0%, 42 Votes)
- Hamburger (22.0%, 13 Votes)
- Veggieburger (3.0%, 2 Votes)
- N/A (2.0%, 1 Votes)
Total Voters: 58
So, please vote and then comment on letting us know what which type of burger you prefer cheeseburger or hamburger (veggie or N/A is on there as well for you freakshows ;-)) After you do that please be sure to check out our expired polls in the archive or read through the previous posts about polls here.

Usually a hamburger guy myself, but will, on occasion, stray into the cheeseburger ranks. But it has to be a cheese I want to eat, like swiss or a sharp cheddar, not fake American cheese. Aren’t you going to ask us ketchup or mustard ?

Cheese all the way, 2 slices is best.

Cheese. White, not yellow. I’ll eat the yellow if there’s no other option, but swiss is the best, IMO.
re: ketchup v. mustard – on a burger, I prefer BBQ sauce

Cheeseburger. Hamburgers are fine too, but if there’s cheese, put it on it.
Locally, I’m partial to Matt’s Juicy Lucys, but I want to try them at the other places that have them too. When I’m in a city that has one, I like going to Cheeseburger (that’s the actual name of the restaurant), but there’s only seven locations and the nearest one is in Vegas, so I don’t get to one often.

a good greaze burger lathered with cheap yellow mustard, heinz 57 sauce and raw onions, pickles on the side. preferably 50/50, that’s 50% meat and 50% greaze! no cheese thank you:)

cheese. Always. Any type.

Cheeseburger…preferably with ‘processed cheese product’ American cheese (only for cheeseburgers, otherwise don’t care for American cheese). And of course Heinz ketchup and perhaps a fresh slice of tomato and wash it all down with a tasty, icy Coca Cola! Mmmmmm

I have on a very blond day ordered a cheeseburger without the cheese in order to get a hamburger. The 16 year old looked at me like I was a real genius when I pulled up to the window. Then, I handed him my PetCo card instead of my credit card. Classic.

Cheeseburger or hamburger? Yes. It depends on what mood I’m in, although a majority of the time when I eat out, it’s a bacon cheeseburger, but when eating at home or grilling, it’ll often just be a hamburger.
And Tim, Yes to Matt’s. It’s one of the few places that my Dad has actually wanted to go back to when he was in the Cities…
So I haven’t answered the poll. None of the answer fit…

Matt’s is great.
Has anyone out there ever had a Vincent burger??? YUM.

Matts is great, although I am quite surprised to see sandy say that as well.
I recently had the Juicy Lucy at the 5 to 8 club just down the road from Matts, and I thought it was great. Not sure I would go so far as to say it was better, but it was awful good.

Generally a hamburger suites me just fine unless of course I can get some good cheese on it – a nice flavorful blue or Brie.

Juicy Lucy’s are my preference. Buffalo Tap actually has a good example of a Juicy Lucy, a little closer geographically than Matt’s or the 58.
