Tonight I had the pleasure of again braving the roads and the idiots whose brains cannot function when snow is falling and lights are flashing all at the same time on my way to the Burnsville City Council special work session. I mentioned that this was going to happen in this post in which commenter Thought Leader provided a link to the agenda and supplemental information.
The meeting was crowded tonight with numerous people in attendance including several from the media, a hotel owner, and some from the group that apparently handles the Heart of the Shitty (TM) tree lightning. I showed up about three minutes late due to traffic and that stupid cop (seen above) blocking the intersection with his cruiser while he was no where to be found. They had already started the meeting and were working through the staff PowerPoint presentation about possible budget cuts.
There was plenty to cover and it took 2.5 hours just to go over the proposed budget cuts and related discussion. While there were numerous points of interest, especially public safety and their cuts, I’m going to leave that for another post which will probably come tomorrow. The best part of the entire meeting came towards the end after Charlie Crichton had been on one of his completely unnecessary rants fueled by his inability to remember two minutes before and Kautz had to remind him of reality. Being that reality and Kautz’ admonishment of his forgetfulness had pissed of Charlie he went into curmudgeon mode and spent the rest of the night taking potshots at Kautz over shit in the Heart of the City, especially the management firm and that stupid fucking traffic light that Kautz desperately wants to put in that I believe Crichton muttered would cost over $130,000.
One of the proposed cuts suggested by Burnsville city staff was $70,000 for Heart of the City beautification. When this topic came up Kautz became nearly unruly. She was excited, visibly upset, and was stammering about how she demands that staff go back and think up something else about how to handle the beautification of the Heart of the City area. Out of her nearly endless and retarded rant I took the following:
1. Those residents who live in the Heart of the City are assessed 40% of the fees associated with beautification of the area because they are the ones who enjoy the benefits the most.
What never came out of her mouth directly but I assume she was upset about was the fact that the residents would still be assessed the beautification fees but wouldn’t enjoy the benefits of it.
2. Kautz claims that the park in the Heart of the Shitty (TM) is the only park out of the 75+ in all of Burnsville that little children can enjoy with their parents and grandparents.
Umm, Liz, you’re a fucking moron and you should just step down now before anything even more ridiculous comes out between your wrinkled lips. For someone who has sat on the Burnsville City Council as long as you have, you would think you’d be able to rattle off the amenities at all of your parks and fully realize the bullshit you were feeding your citizenry. Your favorite park, sitting next to the largest taxpayer burden in the South Metro, isn’t any better than any other and shame on you for lying to everyone in Burnsville to make them think that it is.
3. She opposes any and all cuts to the park that sits directly across from her precious apartment when other parks that receive city staff services (like the ball fields she referred to at least twice) and demanded that city staff compare the cuts at what she obviously feels is HER park to others.
Charlie stepped in here to point out that they were to compare park to park and not all parks to her park. Kautz glared at him while he stated that to staff.
4. She is using her clout as mayor to influence decisions on one single city amenity because it directly impacts her and her personal image.
Boo Kautz, you’re disgusting.
What do you think of Kautz using her power as mayor to drum up interest in only one single $70,000 line item (mind you one of the most insignificant when you look at the big picture)? Do you believe that Kautz’ assertion that it’s the only Burnsville park which allows children to play with parents and grandparents? Whatever it is that you are thinking about this particular budget item we want to hear it!
