Kim and I went to Kowalski’s in Lakeville tonight to nab some lump crab meat for tomorrow. Immediately upon walking inside I said, “wow, they must be finally closing,” as much of the produce aisle was empty and many of their “housewares” items were missing as well.
I have said on numerous occasions that I can’t figure out how they are making money there as no one is ever in the store and when they are, they are buying just a handful of items like we do.
Well, after wandering through the store and getting what we needed we made our way to the deli and found it nearly barren. We asked a kid cleaning up if they were actually closing up for good. He said that they were, on January 14th, and they were having reduced hours starting on the 4th (8:00pm).
Bleh, too bad Cub’s selection of higher end foods blows.

I saw in the paper a week or so ago that they were going to be closing. I was disappointed, but I guess not all that surprised. The store was always empty.
But on the other hand, I assumed they would tough it out for at least a little while longer while the population down here grows.

I would guess that their location just isn’t all that accessible to the rest of the “things to do” in the area. Cub, Target, and Rainbow are all around the major shopping/food areas and Kowalski’s is kinda out of the way unless you’re going to get Carbone’s.
I will miss being able to get Sprecher root beer though :(

Yeah, but it was easier to just go less than a mile down the road and get some :)
