According to a recent Dakota County Criminal Complaint, a love triangle centered around one man has led to terroristic threat charges against one of the women after she tried to run her competition down with their lover’s car.
From the complaint:
On August 21, 2011 at 2:47 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence located in South St Paul, Dakota County, Minnesota on a report of harassment. Upon arrival the officer spoke with A.Y.D. and A.P.D.. A.Y.D. advised the officer that Mistina Rose Spry, date of birth 9/5/1985 (defendant herein), had confronted he about her relationship with A.T., a man whom they were both dating. A.Y.D. stated that the defendant showed up at her residence in A.T.’s red Ford Explorer yelling and honking the horn. The defendant yelled “Come out to the street so I can run you over” at which time A.Y.D. stood on the stairs of her home and engaged in a verbal argument with the defendant who had exited the vehicle. As the argument went on, the defendant became so enraged that she got back into the vehicle and drove through the front yard towards where A.Y.D. was standing. A.Y.D., stated she was scared for her life and ran through the neighbors front lawn to avoid the defendant, who followed her in the vehicle. The officer took a statement from A.P.D. who stated that she had been outside during the argument, heard the defendant tell A.Y.D. to come out to the street so she could run her over and saw the defendant drive through the lawns as A.Y.D. ran away. A.P.D. stated she was scared during the incident. The officer observed tire tracks that started in AYD’s front yard and continued into the neighbor’s front yard. The tracks were approximately 35 feet from the curb and 15 feet from the homes and in multiple areas the grass was completely gone and surface dirt was showing.
With the defendant actually physically threatening the other woman with a car and chasing her with it do you believer terroristic threat charges are sufficient? If you were a defendant in a felony case would you leave your Facebook profile up and publicly accessible with photos of the unnamed male and an innocent child still available to the world? Whatever you have to say about this one go ahead and comment on as I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I would say that’s a bit over the top. Sure, threats.. call it a domestic disturbance or whatever and move on. Let the vic get a restraining order if they are worried, othewise, pick up some grass seed and move on with life.
There are far more relevant things for the ‘terroristic threat’ than yelling at someone from your 4×4.
Otherwhile, wholly crap, I had 2 beers, I must be an alcoholic.

With all due respect to the men here, there ain’t a one worth embarrassing yourself like this. Okay, maybe Jacques Pepin.
I would call this assault and property damage. I’m no lawyer, but I would think it’s important to keep the charge of “terroristic threat” very specific.

It does seem like the language of terroristic threat statute don’t quite match the crime committed here. With all of the laws out there, one must be a better fit.
Regarding the tire tracks in the yard, in the defendent’s defense, she did ask the woman to come out into the street to be run over before she drove into her yard.

Seems to fit to me. My WAG is that while the threat of harm was there, there was no intent to inflict harm. That may have been based on interviews with the defendant. Granted, I would certainly like to see some destruction of private property as well, but what are you gonna do? There maybe some nuances to that charge being useful.
Terroristic threats is a Felony and matches pretty well unless the victim was actually hit by the car. Assault 5 is the closest otherwise, and that’s a misdemeanor. Considering the hour of the day, I wonder if Alcohol played some roll in it all? Women be crazy.

bb stacker, I agree. Three a.m. is called “The Devil’s Hour”. Some say on the net that your immune system is at its lowest, some say it has religious connotations. I’ve been out at three, NOT under the influence, picking up my husband or my kids at work, and I see stuff I just don’t want to see.
I also know that nothing gets solved at three a.m. So, if you wake up and start tossing and turning, open a book or knit or start a movie. Don’t let the bad stuff make you think too much.

Someone apparently related to the accused has e-mailed me to let me know I’m ‘deceiving’ for posting the photo at the top of the post. They let me know it wasn’t even of the yard in question!
