Yeah, I skipped last week’s roundup–forgive me. Unfortunately for this week I only have a quick list of five reports from around the South Metro that popped up in my reader and I thought were particularly interesting:
1. Thisweek reports Joan of Arcadia star, Amber Tamblyn, will be coming to the Burnsville PAC to put on a “poetry-driven” variety show next week.
While I’m not sure why anyone would care about Tamblyn’s poetry or her mother’s guitar playing, I’m pleased to see the tickets reasonably priced at only $13 for adults. I can’t wait to see how little the city makes on this one!
2. The Star Tribune reports even more charges are coming up against Peter Stibel II as four more boys have stepped forward to report abuse by this alleged piece of shit (see the original discussion we’ve had about this guy here.
At this point, if he’s found guilty, he should have to hang, upside down by his balls for 10 years, before being put to death. What do you think an appropriate punishment would be–if he’s guilty.
3. Thisweek reports that 9 Lakeville residents (of a whopping 12) do not want the city to force stores to keep a log that includes name, address, phone number, and signature which would be given to the Lakeville PD.
Wow, this brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “papers please…”
4. The Pioneer Press reports on a crazy motherfucker (different than a bad motherfucker) who ran from the cops in Lakeville and then waded up to his waist in 45 degree water in Lake Marion. After doing so he lit a cigarette and stared at the officer. Read the original Dakota County Criminal Complaint in TXT or PDF.
5. The Star Tribune reports an Eagan man whose marijuana grow lamps started a fire in his home is now facing drug charges:
He said he was growing it himself because marijuana is very expensive and he was trying to cut expenses because of financial trouble since purchasing the town house, it also said.
Not as expensive as burning your fucking house down!
Well that’s it for this week’s roundup. Go ahead and feel free to add your comments to any of these but I’m especially interested in your thoughts on Lakeville’s draconian tobacco accessory sales law discussion and the scout leader’s new charges–will more be coming? Whatever you have to say about any of these, go ahead and comment on!

Surely this whole thing is a box car’s fault.

Nope – Actually this whole incident can be blamed, surreptitiously on Mayor Kautz and the PAC!!!

When you have to advertise the fact that you got Punk’d as evidence of your career having taken off, your career probably hasn’t really taken off as much as you think it has. Good luck to the PAC, but I have a feeling this one will be going down in flames.

Dude probably just wanted some fresh fish. Maybe if Molly Cool’s was a better restaurant, he could have gone there.

The PAC thing is basically an extended book signing that you need to pay to attend. Hmm, that’s gonna go over well. I’m sure there are people that would like to hear a poetry reading… but how many really want to hear Amber read her poems? I don’t recall her voice being all that interesting.
Um… so the city wants to impose a franchise fee, which they charge MER or Centerpoint. So who do they then think MER or Centerpoint will pass that charge on to? Stupid city council. If you need money, tell it to us straight and just raise the taxes. Quit hiding behind fees.

That’s f-ing hilarious.

Is Joe Skelly, the guy booking the PAC for the Ambler Tamblyn poetry reading for his new venture On-Site Authors, any relation to Jim Skelly, the Communications Director for the City of Burnsville?

The franchise fee idea has been a hot topic in city governments lately, anything from gas suppliers to street lights. It is basically a way to ‘tax’ the citizens indirectly, while still being able to crow loudly that they’ve kept taxes down.
Wonderful.

Just received in the mail today the “glossy” BPAC 2009-2010 Season Guide!!! WOW… just pray that the chamber of commerce members advertising will pay for all the publishing and mailing costs. And yes Amber Tamblyn is listed on page 11. The exact description for the $16.00 seats is a “special discussion” and “Q and A”. BUT, thank heavens, she will be leading a master class for students at the Envision Academy earlier in the day……. This is what 24 million dollars in Burnsville taxpayer money brings to our city !!!!
I think I feel sick……..again.

Double Espresso, featuring two of the three members of Triple Espresso is listed as an event for Oct 30th in the Burnsville PAC Season Guide that just arrived in the mail.
This is the first mention of this that I saw, and as my wife loved Triple Espresso, we would probably have gone. Anyone know if this event actually took place tonight?
