A quick little link bomb before the holidays. Kim and I are staying in town this year so I will continue to post nonsense throughout the week but being that it’s Christmas, the news will be slow so bear with me as I post stupid crap that no one cares about until next week heh.
I’m going to start off with some random shit that I have starred in Google Reader for future use. I usually stick to news here but figured you’d like something a little extra since you’ve all been good little boys and girls this year:
1. Conner McCall, a South Metro blogger, has compiled and posted a great list of Minnesota blog links so that everyone can be as informed as he is. While I was already following (or at least knew of) many of the ones he had listed, I did learn about a few new ones that have earned a spot in my reader. Check it out here if you’re interested.
2. A recipe for Eggnog Cupcakes caught my eye from the Minneapolis recipe blog A Good Appetite.
Perhaps if you’re a fan of the beer post I just put up last night, you might be interested in a recipe for Guinness cupcakes that I have been holding on to for a very long time. I passed it along to my buddy Chuck a while back and his wife has made them for him once or twice and he said they were excellent.
Now on to the news:
3. A fire in a Burnsville apartment complex leaves 300+ residents homeless and many of those are without insurance. The fire required attention from six area fire departments due to its massive size.
4. While I recently recycled a ton of electronics myself, it appears that plenty of other people are doing it too even though the results of the poll I ran here about this topic weren’t indicative of much.
5. There are some talks about expanding CR-42 to six lanes but it will have little effect and will only be a waste of taxpayer dollars. I’m sure whatever result they come up with will be a waste of time, money, and won’t work anyway.
6. A review of driving offenses has picked up about 15,000 incidents where people didn’t have their licenses suspended when though they should have. This came about due to questions brought up after the retarded Dakota County Sheriff’s Deputy who not only killed someone while on duty but was recently arrested for DUI didn’t have his license suspended. If you didn’t already hate that worthless douchebag, now you may have yet another reason to do so.
Do you have any recipes or South Metro tidbits to share? Perhaps you have some local reading suggestions for me and/or others? If so, comment on and happy holidays to you and your family!

How about poor Ethel worrying about her TV not working and flooding John Kline’s office with phone calls. Get a box if your TV’s old and uses an antenna or get satellite or cable. Dammit, it’s been talked about for a few years.

If you go the Strib article about 42, there’s a hullaballoo commenting about doing an intercity freeway. I’ve been waiting for state-wide urban planning initiatives foreva. Most of my profs agree that having elected different political administrations on and off for the past decade has created a major disconnection in state planning, even though its not suppose to (planning is suppose to carry independent of politics). Reasoning is mostly funds. I guess roads are not as cheap as one would think without Federal dollars. Dakota Cty usually plays it safe so it wouldn’t undertake such investment without turning 42 into a State Highway (plus I mean shouldn’t Savage be annexed into DC). And now we hit another political quandary with most dollars going into urban core projects (which is true its overdue). Planning would have ensured a streamlined scheduled for transportation but like Palin would say, “ooo big government” telling us where to drive and live.

An anonymous donation of $1 million dollars (or around $18,000 for each family) will help those affected by the fire regroup. All I can say is wow.

Glad to note that improvements are being made on 42 from Prior Lake through Burnsville. How about taking a better look at the 42/Cedar intersection? Why not continue 77 south with off ramps from Cedar, or would this upset the businesses along Cedar too much?
