I don’t normally talk about random shit that I see throughout the day. I try to limit my posting to the normal boring shit that no one really cares about (i.e. drinking, food, swimming, and geocaching) but today I feel the need to temporarily detract from my usual. One of the only other bloggers that I read daily is Steve Eck. He always has some random tidbit that he writes about that somehow grabs my attention. Hopefully my poor imitation will be considered at least 1/4 flattering.
Anyway, today I was on my way to work and I realized the importance of commas. I have a problem with the usage of commas as I generally use them entirely too often and have been accused (by professors) in the past of committing the deadly comma splice in much of my writing. Well, perhaps the marketing god that came up with the newest truckside slogan for Kraft’s Lunchables was also a habitual comma splicer. Perhaps he wasn’t and someone else just pointed out to him that a 28.5 foot long rolling billboard shouldn’t be so suggestive.
In any case, while this message was correctly punctuated, it’s probably not one that they should have on the side of trucks — at least not while I’m driving 80 mph on my way to work. Taking hiptop photos to make a stupid joke while driving isn’t all that smart. Especially when you have to try and get the entire message in one photo.
“Ride on, Mom!”
