Last week’s poll asked about whether or not you were an oatmeal fan and even my mother responded (hi mom!). While I continue to hate oatmeal and The Rooster loves it, assuming it’s made by his mother and not me, other people seem to enjoy it as well. While I won’t tell you what breakfast foods to eat, I’ll stick to Clyde’s reply that oatmeal stout is pretty good ;-)
This week’s poll comes after I read the Savage Pacer‘s Police calls from the Feb. 23 edition. It would appear that someone, probably tired of winter, decided to make a monument to their disappointment with the seemingly never-ending snow this year:
MISCHIEF
Feb. 11: A man from Savage reported that someone had created an obscene snow structure at Hidden Valley Park, 5000 block of 132nd Street. There are no suspects.
While we have no idea what that obscene gesture was, I have a mental image of what one could be considering I’d love to express my own frustration and hatred of the seemingly daily snowfalls through that method. Yet, I assume most people would probably chuckle or, if they were particularly disturbed by the image it provided, would have destroyed it themselves–it’s snow after all.
Are you tired of winter? So tired that you would create an obscene snow structure to show your hatred? Are you enjoying this hellish and never-ending winter? Why?!!?! If you saw an obscene snow structure would you call the police or would you just destroy it yourself and save yourself the tax dollars and reduced police coverage for real crime? Whatever you have to say about this one go ahead and comment on below and vote on the sidebar as I’d love to know your thoughts.

Yes, sick of being cooped up inside with sick kids. Cannot WAIT for spring this year!

Very tired of winter!! And really, this even hasn’t been a bad one…they just seem more annoying now than when I was younger.

I’m tired of not getting any snow in the winter. Extreme cold and hardly any snow makes winter completely pointless.

I’m ready for winter to be over, or at least the cold parts. I wouldn’t mind a huge snow storm as long as the temp doesn’t dip below 25 or so, but I also wouldn’t mind 40+ degree days from here on out.
I have done a lot of outdoorsy type things this winter, which has made it better. And not shitty snow sports, which I hate. A lot more just walking around, winter carnival, and being outdoors in general. It makes it more bearable. Also living somewhere where I don’t have to shovel or commute to work makes it much more bearable.

This is actually my favorite time of winter because the days are getting longer and the temps are starting to climb a bit. The middle of March when I start wishing that we could fast forward the season about a month.
For me, having kids has made winter much more fun because I get to do stuff that I had just quit doing over the years. Yesterday we did ice skating lessons in the morning and sledding in the afternoon. Stuff like that and simple things like coming home for hot chocolate is kick ass. Tomorrow I’m taking the day off and giving my older yougin his first downhill skiing lesson. Doesn’t get much more fun than that.

I’ve avoided the winter blues by planning a March trip to Phoenix for the past 5 years. It gives me a break from winter to look forward to. Plus when I get back I know that spring is just around the corner.
I think this is half the issue with MN winters. Nobody takes breaks from them. Even a long weekend in a sunny climate in enough and totally worth it.
Also, gotta agree with John about doing winter stuff. Ice skating and hot Chocolate make such a great combo. Not many better small and cheap pleasures in life.

Considering the predictions pre-winter were biting cold snaps for weeks on end, I’d say this winter has been just fine. I haven’t enjoyed the snow, then melt cycles. I have to assume most of that water runs off and thus we will need spring rains, bad. I prefer a good snow in December that never goes away until March. But overall it hasn’t been bad. My grandkid loves it and he had my wife chasing him through the yard last week.

While I am ALWAYS ready for winter to GO AWAY, this one has been relatively mild. We haven’t dipped below zero very much at all, and we are behind our average in snowfall. It’s been pretty painless.

I asked myself the same question last month at Target as I looked at the bikinis while wearing snowpants and Sorels.

Still enjoying the winter. Going out fishing next weekend and still like seeing snow. Give me another few weeks then I’ll be done with it.
