WATCH this space! originally uploaded by Jon Mitchell
Last week’s poll asked if you got more or less trick or treaters in recent years than before. Of the three options: more, less, and lights off, most people are saying less trick or treaters and/or lights off before “more”. Sad days indeed. That said, I’ll be out this week trick or treating in the neighborhood with The Rooster.
This week’s poll comes out of nowhere. I have always been someone who loses things…especially watches. The first one I remember owning was a yellow waterproof watch my father bought for me when I was around 10 years old. I was excited to own it as he had told me it was an important item which proved passage towards adulthood. After only a few weeks it was stolen from my locker during practice, never to be seen again. A few years later I received two other watches: one which I placed on top of my car (on the way to practice) and another which was destroyed by water (waterproof to 25m was a lie apparently).
Well, these days watches are relegated to the same shelf as the rotary phone. Some people have them still but simply as holdovers from the past. Either people rely on their mobile phones to tell them the time or like me, they simply don’t care much about what time it is aside from a pretty decent ability to approximate.
So what about you? Do you still wear a watch and why? Is it a habit or a holdover from the past or do you still find some great use for them even though it’s likely you own two or three acceptable alternatives? Whatever you have to say about this one go ahead and vote on the sidebar and then comment on below. After you do both of those things feel free to check out our expired polls in the archive or read through the previous posts about polls here.
