My mother comes to me to find stuff on Google for her. Her last request before this was fairly simple… Find an obituary of a specific person and in a specific newspaper. I had that result in about 45 seconds. I even gave her the link so that she could find other obituaries she required just as fast.
Tonight she asked me to do a favor for my aunt. My little cousin wants a Webkinz Sherbert Bunny. This is apparently the Tickle Me Elmo or Cabbage Patch doll for 2007.
Well, I did a bit of searching and came across numerous retailers that were offering these items for extremely inflated prices. I saw quotes all over the board. Everything from $16.95 CAD to $89.95 USD. The most common, however, was in the $39.95 range. Apparently these stuffed toys normally go for about $12/ea.
The cheapest one I found was from DVDBoxOffice.com priced at $16.95 CAD. Based on what I have read about them and the small scale scandal over the XBox360 and Wii sales (during the height of all that bullshit), they are slow to ship (so bad that people just outright canceled their orders rather than deal with the wait times). One person even claimed that DVDBoxOffice.com asked them to fax over their CC statement so that they could “verify their billing address”!
If you’re out looking for one of these “treasures”, good luck. You’re going to be paying at least $40 for the Sherbert Bunny. If you’re paying more than that, you’re probably getting ripped off.

I don’t get people. Why don’t kids just go outside and play. We are planning on getting our boys a stick and maybe even a large rock for their Easter baskets this year. Do you know where I can get a large rock and a really nice stick on the Internet? Have a good day.

Andy,
Not everyone is Internetless in their homes ;) I know, you’re just jealous of the rest of us ;)
I had more of a mixed childhood. I did both the imaginative “play outside” thing as well as the stay inside and rot my brain watching the Price is Right, Today’s Special, and playing on the C64.
I turned out half and half even now although I have much easier access to that electronic component even when I’m playing outside :)
