Well this week, for the most part, has been an abnormally boring one. With the hiptop not being able to send any photos until yesterday and me feeling like being boring, we didn’t do much — at all!
Monday’s big event was the infamous “Paklid Incident” which I posted about before. Basically, for those of you not interested in reading a bunch of geocaching forum posts, Paklid broke his leg in the woods and didn’t think that EMTs would be able to find him. He knew that a bunch of geocachers would. We did, extracted him from the hilltop, across the ice, and up another hill to US-169. While crossing the ice a State Trooper added to the group (already numbering 7) and offered a moment of concern but was on his way just as we came over the top of the hill to the roadway. Paklid will be back up and around after a few weeks. It’ll give him some much needed time to come up with some more evil puzzle caches — something I don’t look forward to :(
Wednesday I headed out with the WeekNIGHT Cache to beautiful Loretto, MN (about 40 miles NW of Apple Valley). Because of it’s closer proximity to work, I decided to head for Loretto directly after work. I picked up Oneied Cooky and GeoPierce and we met up with LucidOndine, celticwulf, TheGilby3, and Little Hammer caching in the area and we ended up find 11 caches prior to the event.
After arriving in the designated parking area for the WeekNIGHT Caches, we met up with everyone else (drat19, jrest, Arcticabn, Moe the Sleaze, and sir_zman). jrest had chosen two quick caches and a bar less than a mile away. After traipsing through ankle deep meltwater we found the caches and were off to the historic Choo Choo Bar and Restaurant. A cozy place with great food and a ton of beer on tap, this was an excellent location for our after-event activities. Mostly everyone (the beer drinkers at least) ordered Guinness and burgers. The service, to me was excellent, and I thought that their caboose (taking up nearly all of the bar area) was cute. If you’re in Loretto and you’re looking for some decent food and good beer, check out the Choo Choo Bar and Restaurant. After leaving the bar I dropped GeoPierce and Oneied Cooky off in Eden Prairie and made it home by 10:20. It sucks having to drive that far but whatever, it was fun.
Thursday brought grocery shopping, TV, and Literati with my mom. Kim watches Survivor, American Idol (she loves the dual tuner DirecTivo — both her shows at once!) and I get in CSI, Without a Trace, and now Conviction.
Being a huge Law and Order fan (nearly all the L&O’s are regularly watched by me) I hope that Conviction is good. I caught the last part of the “Pilot” that aired the other night and I added the rest as a Season Pass. Tivo told me that both Bravo and USA are airing the episodes as well so I set it to record the Pilot again. It recorded that episode last night so I lumped it in with the rest… I rarely know what shows are on at what time due to the Tivo so forgive me. I look forward to watching that tonight — it best not piss me off or get cancelled like every other show I love (i.e. Family Guy’s first few iterations and Arrested Development).
There’s nothing on tap for this weekend! I can’t fucking believe it! Dave might come over for some more Super Scrabble (sorry, Sunday is when the pics stopped working from the hiptop and I lost them all to get it working again) but who knows for sure? I need to get the oil changed, clean out the car, and get it washed. I need to get my camping shit ready for MOGA at the end of the month. I should probably clean up the garage too but with the impending rain (of course it was 45 and sunny yesterday and it will be 50 and sunny today — bleh) I doubt I’ll be in the mood.
See, exciting shit, eh?
See all the pictures from yesterday here (mobile).
