Last week’s poll asked about losing and finding items and whether they were returned. While I was surprised at how my lost item was recently returned I was really surprised at how many others have either found and returned something of another person or had an item returned to them. Definitely good people left in the world. Yay people!
This week’s poll came to me while staring out my front window at the receding snow pile at the end of our street. While last year it was a monstrosity that arrived too early and didn’t fully melt until almost June, this year it’s the first week of February and it’s the only snow left around my house. While I’m certainly all for winters like these and welcome them with open arms I know there are plenty of others who think this is horrible.
So what about you? Are you a fan of this winter so far or are you disappointed in the lack of snow and cold? Do you agree that after the last two completely horrendous and snowbound seasons that we deserve this winter? Whatever you have to say about this one vote on the sidebar and then comment on below. After you do both of those things feel free to check out our expired polls in the archive or read through the previous posts about polls here.

I have never minded winter but I hate the wind. I feel for the people who are making payments on the snow blowers and snowmobiles that they can’t use and the guys who count on income from plowing as part of their budget. Safer roads outweigh the fun side of winter in my opinion.

Definitely in favor, 100%. And, yeah, it feels extra nice after the Winter That Wouldn’t End last year.

I prefer it when it gets cold and stays cold. Then there is very little ice on the roads, snow on the ground covering up the brown grass, and the sky can clear up and give us a very cold sunny day.

Reminds me of the winters of my youth. In Tidewater, Va.

Love it. I’d almost consider choosing to live in a place like this. Almost.
Also, regarding Marty’s concern for those affected economically, some are really benefiting. I have a friend who does lawn care and snow removal. Lack of snow means pure profit since his clients pay a flat monthly rate.

I love it. This winter has been just about bearable.

Best winter ever. I have worn a jacket to work maybe 5 times this whole season.

I miss the snow. It makes it fun to go outside. Last year we would sled and build snow forts every weekend. Now we just play in a frozen and/or muddy yard. It is dull.
Now it is like living in Seattle.

I cannot escape the feeling that the lack of significant snowfall will result in some sort of painful drama come spring or summer. Thus if I had my preference, we’d have a typical snowfall, with a typical spring, and a typical summer. Something that has been sorely missed for quite a few years.

I’m not missing the freakishly cold temps at all. Snow is a necessary evil since we will obviously miss the moisture come spring and summer. This year is just like a typical winter in KC where I’m from so I’m feeling pretty good about it mostly.

I’m loving it. I don’t care for winter, and though I try to make the best of it when it’s around, I would just as soon not have to deal with our standard winters.
My understanding of snow and drought is that it has little impact; most of the moisture in snow runs off due to the frozen ground. Rain in the spring and early summer is a much more significant factor. And of course, too much snow leads to flooding.

No complaints, but I didn’t really complain last winter either. We are saving money on heating and car storage.

I haven’t spent too much time outside, but I know the walks to and from the car are much easier to take this winter than last. I could get used to this. Of course, that’s a problem, unless next winter is as balmy as this one.
