Tonight begins the 2008 Apple Valley Mid-Winter Fest which is apparently an annual event going back over 30 years which offers people of all ages a weekend of activities, food, etc to get out and “enjoy” the cold weather.
They are offering a medallion hunt ($2 buttons are available during the festival) and you may pick one up at the Apple Valley Community Center or call the Apple Valley Parks and Recreation department at 952-953-2300 for more information.
The schedule of events includes a Lions Club sponsored spaghetti dinner (Thursday night at the American Legion), a chicken wing eating contest (Saturday at 11 AM), Men’s snow softball tournament (Saturday, all day in freezing cold temperatures), Snow Tubing (12 to 5 PM at Valleywood) and even a GPS event (2 – 4 PM).
I have never participated in this event but it surely does seem like Apple Valley has put a lot of work into the project. You can find out more information on their website here and if you’re just looking for all the things they have planned to do, check here instead.
Anyone going out this weekend to do any of this? I’m mildly interested in the chicken wing eating contest but I’m not sure that it would really be of any benefit heh.
