Kim was looking for a children’s Christmas storybook that’s about a Christmas tree’s life from the tree’s point of view. It was her favorite Christmas story from when she was a child and she’s looking to pass the tradition on to our nieces and nephews.
With her limited description and memory of the story and pictures inside, I was unable to locate it online. After quite a bit of time with Google’s Book Search and Amazon’s internal book search, I suggested that we check out Barnes and Noble to see if they had any real books that might jog her memory.
While Kim was off asking the Barnes and Noble employees for help, I was busy wandering the store aimlessly looking for good deals. I guess I’m pretty spoiled by Half Priced Books as I was uninterested in just about every book that Barnes and Noble had. I can no longer justify paying $14+ for a book when I can pick it up online or at Half Priced Books for much less (I’m a $1 rack whore).
Kimmy appeared out of nowhere and announced that the Barnes and Noble employee mentioned that it is rare for them to stock any Christmas books that are more than five years old unless the are “classics”. Bummer.
I offered my continued help and loving support in the parking lot but after we arrived home Kim found that someone had replied to a post she made on some random forum she came across. They supplied her with the name of the book, The Fir Tree! Mystery solved! Thanks Barnes and Noble ;)
