For those of you that have been out to some of the new restaurants I have reviewed since January of 2008, I setup a new poll to vote on. While Kim had decided that I should come up with something “funny”, I am just not as creative as MSPD and Kim was of little help.
The options are:
- La Luz Cafe in Apple Valley, MN
- Ronin Sushi Cafe in Lakeville, MN
- Panino Brothers in Apple Valley, MN
- Giuseppe’s Restaurant in Burnsville, MN
- Other
If you picked “Other”, please post a comment below and let us know which new restaurant (which opened in 2008) and we’ll check it out, I promise!
Best New South Metro Restaurant
- Panino Brothers (41%, 14 Votes)
- La Luz Cafe (26%, 9 Votes)
- Ronin Sushi Cafe (24%, 8 Votes)
- Giuseppe’s (6%, 2 Votes)
- Other (3%, 1 Votes)
Total Voters: 34
Remember, you can check out the results of old polls here!

Wow, I recognize none of those restaurants. I guess this happens when a guy moves out of that area to another corner of the metro. For irony’s sake, you should have listed the somewhat new Panera at Burnsville Center.

What we need is for these places to allow on-line coupons for LL.com readers so we can sample them. Seriously.
Hook us up, Bill. It’s in the name of science! (Or some shit like that.) =:-D

Wow, its pretty cool that this is such a decent little group. I would not be unhappy eating at any of those 4 places.
I voted on the poll, but my personal rankings would be:
1. Ronin
2. La Luz
3. Guiseppes
4. Other (Satay 2 Go)
5. Panino Bros
I would give an honorable mention, and request a review for Blue Ox (seriously the Buffalo Chicken sandwich rocks) and Porterhouse.

Chad,
Satay2Go opened over 5 years ago (maybe 6 or 7 now?) and Blue Ox has been opened well over a year as well. This poll was specifically for South Metro restaurants that have opened and I have reviewed in 2008 only.
I haven’t been to Blue Ox, although I have attempted several times only to be thwarted by Kim’s veto. While I have Porterhouse on the radar, it just doesn’t interest me and seems way overpriced for a way out of the way Lakeville restaurant.

I’ve only been to PB, so I have to vote them, but I’m a picky eater, who doesn’t like peanuts, so most Thai (other than curry) is out, I’m lazy, so I don’t trek to B-ville very often, and I like the atmosphere at PB. I like going out with my husband to watch a baseball game, or all-star game, or even the home-run derby. I like the relaxed atmosphere, and I can walk there.

Chili’s isn’t on the list.

I understand Bill, but you should know that I only went to Satay to Go for the first time this year (after reading a review on here), and as such, I consider it new. Perception is reality and all that. I did not vote for other, so I think that I did not skew your poll.

No worries Chad, I just wanted to clarify if I had made no sense before :)

You usually don’t make sense, why should today be any different?

I find myself really doubting the taste buds of my fellow poll responders.

It’s very possible that they voted for the only restaurant they have actually tried which skews the results a bit but whatever. Honestly, I like them all just fine but at this point, out of those listed, I like Ronin the best for food. However, that said, I prefer Panino Brothers for everything else they offer.
