Kimmy and I went to the IMAX theatre at the Minnesota Zoo to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The 7:35 showing was sold out but I had purchased tickets online earlier in the day. The line was absolutely huge and they made us wait until 7:30 before even starting us through the maze and into the theatre.
I never knew IMAX screens to be flat and big. I knew them to be 360 degrees. Why are these screens considered IMAX? I have fond memories of becoming sea sick at some whale watching movie that I saw when I was 8 at Disney.
Overall, the movie was not what I expected. I always have high expectations for movies and end up disappointed in the end. While I wasn’t overly disappointed I certainly wasn’t blown away enough to join the rest of the audience in their applause at the end.
Wait for the DVD.

In your post you take issue with an IMAX film being on a flat screen. The theatres that are domed are OMNIMAX theatres, while it uses the same large format IMAX film, the technology also has lenses that correct the perspective issues of projecting on a domed surface.
Thanks for the info Nick!
