Today Kim and I spent the morning goofing off and doing laundry before heading over to Chris and Laura’s for a marathon dog running, food cooking, boring TV watching, and dinner eating session.
The girls had taken a class back before Thanksgiving at Cooks of Crocus Hill located in Edina. Kim dragged me along to a free demonstration the weekend before Thanksgiving which provided some pretty good results.
Anyway, the two of the girls have been promising to make Chris and I dinner with the recipes since. Chris was lucky enough to get some of this done for him on Thanksgiving but being that Kim and I were in Florida and ate at Chef Justin’s Park Plaza Gardens, I didn’t get any of that tasty yummyness :(
We arrived a little before 4 and while Chris and I drank beer and babysat the two doofuses outside, the girls headed out to the store to pick up ingredients for dessert. Kim had suggested they use one of my favorite dessert recipes which includes heavy cream, marscapone cheese, and some fresh fruit. They decided to slightly alter my usual fruit layering with dark chocolate cups topped with the cream and raspberries. The result was tasty and good looking — just like me.
The girls spent the rest of the afternoon slaving away in the kitchen while Chris and I searched for shit to watch on TV. It was a losing battle and we eventually helped out in the kitchen to get things moving along a little faster.
We finally sat down to eat at quarter to 8. Kim and I had brought a bottle of wine from our trip to the Cannon Falls Winery back in April of 2005. We received it as a gift as part of the package we had at the Quill and Quilt Bed and Breakfast in Cannon Falls.
The food looked and tasted great and the wine was also very good. I usually pass out after drinking a good sized glass but I was surprised to find out that I was able to think straight afterwards. Bonus!
Another great day spent with great friends!
