I have mentioned the Cobblestone Target before but I was a little off in my understanding of its intended location. I have noticed the construction happening over by the new transit station near the corner of Pilot Knob and the “future” 155th St but I didn’t want to make an ass out of myself again until I got all the facts about the new SuperTarget they are putting in.
Now that I do know that they are going to grace this area with another fucking SuperTarget, I must say that my original understanding of the location was even further mileage wise and this location is a mere 2.8 miles (road distance) from the original SuperTarget.
Now, while I agree that the first Apple Valley SuperTarget located on the corner of 42 and Cedar might be a little crowded on the weekends, it’s no where near necessary to build another location less than 3 miles away. I currently live in between these two and will love to see the increase in traffic as soccer moms, complaining of the increased gas prices in their SUVs, will flock to the new store to buy the same shitty groceries and clothing options that they will both offer.

This is simply ridiculous. I though that the situation in Chaska and Chanhassen was insane with a SuperTarget and regular Target store being about 4 miles aprat but 2 Super Targets that close is a waste. I thought that Target was smarter. Why not build in Farmington instead?
April 3rd, 2007 at 10:18 am
Sornie,
Probably because either Farmington wouldn’t allow it (they are on a strict schedule for new build sites) or the population and area to draw shoppers from wouldn’t support this new store.
They had originally planned a standard Target for this location but the fucking retards who bought $800k to $1 million dollar homes across the street refused to allow anything other than a high class SuperTarget. Because you know, nothing says power and money like SuperTarget.
I love that Apple Valley is becoming the next Woodbury. Really. It’s awesome. A gigantic parking lot with no trees. Mmmm. Gorgeous place to live.

I have been accused of “pulling out of my ass” my comment that the Cobblestone lake retards (and yes, you are a fucking retard for buying a $800k+ home that’s packed in so tightly to those around you that you appear to be brightly colored sardines) have demanded a SuperTarget.
While the link provided in the pointless comment is great, it doesn’t jive with the comments of two residents that I spoke with (who will remain anonymous so that their overpriced homes won’t mysteriously sink into the barren lands they were built on) who claimed that they wouldn’t settle for anything other than a SuperTarget.
Believe me, if I pulled something out of my ass, it would have been far more entertaining to read.

As I was formerly employed by the Apple Valley super target I have to corect you on on thing they have more then just 3,500 transaction a day. There was a bord saying what our forcase was and what our actual transation were and they were any were from 10,000- 20,000 a day. Cobblestone is right behind my home and form my wind I have a clear veiw or the lake and the home, I can see that you guys there have a very good life right now, I agree with your cause 100%. I dont have any kids of my own but there are kid that live around me that love to go on walkes over to the park and over to the dock go fishing for the little fish that are in the lake. Who is to say that they wont wonder over to the parking lot and get hit by a car. Crossing the rode to get to the park alone scares me, what if they dont look and get hit. If they were to put in this “super” target then trafic will double and make it even more dangeres. I am with you 100%

Wow. That’s really all I can say after reading these outbursts. You dont want another Target built just because you think kids will get hit by cars from more traffic? Well, I can think of one simple solution to that right away to the parents of those kids: DONT LET THEM FUCKING RUN ACROSS PILOT KNOBB. PERIOD. Yeah, lets sit here and complain about another Super Target. I work at the Apple Valley one right now and let me tell you, it would be god damn gracious to have a second one for how busy it is in there. This second Target doesnt affect you in any way possible except a little bit more traffic. Wow lets bitch about it on the internet. Get a life and get over the fact that it’s going to be there. So why dont you go run around on Pilot Knobb and 160th before the traffic comes, and don’t get hit by a car, because then you’ve proved nothing. Thanks.

Greg,
Please be serious. The store is NOT busy enough to warrant an additional store less than three miles away.
The additional traffic, cleared property and strip mall are not acceptable just so that some lazy Target employee can have more time to create fire hazards in the back of the store.

The Apple Valley target is actually the highest volume (in sales) Target store in the country.

And yet, it’s still not that busy even on the weekends so this moot point that keeps being rehashed over and over is just as unnecessary as the second SuperTarget.

wow. I’ll never get those 2 minutes back. What a waste of time. Since construction has already started, the only point that is moot, is yours Bill.
Have fun bitching on the internet while the others enjoy living.

Another good reason not to shop at Target (I stopped shopping there a few years ago due to their return policy):
“The giant retailer will soon require shoppers to show receipts for returns worth $20 or more.”
The part I get a kick out of is this:
“Target officials said the rules are meant to curb the tens of millions of dollars a year it loses through fraudulent returns.
Such fraudulent returns include when people return stolen merchandise or items that they have used once but had no intention of keeping.”
So if I hypothetically use an item once but don’t have any intention in keeping it (which I don’t do BTW), I suddenly will have my receipt eaten by the Target gods?

The current AV Target is too damn busy. I usually shop at Lakeville instead for this reason. Although, I’m sure even Target would have preferred to put their new store further away, it will do well there. There are so many crazy housing developments planned just South of there, that if anything, it will decrease traffic that would have traveled past the new location to get to the current ST.
Target is a great local company that does amazing things for our community. Quit hating.
Pear Head, get over it.

Yes, they do wonderful things like kill local small businesses. Awesome!

I don’t dispute that Target gives back to the community. Good for them.
It’s not clear to me how their return policies are related to that. Maybe you can fill me in AV local?

Wow, I stumbled on this thread when I was reading about the new Target for Waconia.
This group needs to check the facts about Target and other major retailers before saying anything. Do some research before opening your mouth—you might actually sound educated. Target just doesn’t build a store because they feel like it. There has to be a need for it.
In addition, I am responding to Sornie’s comment from April. The Chaska & Chanhassen Targets are 15 minutes apart–nearly 13 miles and they are different. The Chanhassen store is a small Target and the Chaska store is a very large Super Target. Next time, check your facts (and mapquest). It is amazing what knowledge can do~!
Target did not “kill the small business” The consumer did. Consumers these days are not from 1950 and they do not have time to go from shop to shop to shop…they want convenience— a 1 stop shopping experience and that is Target. Do you shop at mom & pop places? I doubt it.
Lastly, if you would READ the article about the Target return policy you might have given some correct information to the group. Target will require a receipt for ONLY CASH returns over $20.00. They will NO LONGER require a receipt for credit/debit transactions. All returns must be made within 90 days.

This isn’t new, the Target stores in Edina and Bloomington are only 1.6 miles apart, the Edina store is currently being reconstructed into a 196,000 sq. ft Super Target.

At least someone is telling Target to go fuck themselves. Too bad we didn’t have the same level of support here in Apple Valley.
