Yesterday I got a Dakota County flyer in the mail. We get them periodically throughout the year and usually they are filled with a bunch of crap that I just don’t care that much about. They should put a big notice on the front when they decide to move the Dakota County Courthouse somewhere realistic rather than out in BFE.
Anyway, as I’m thumbing through it, I get to a Dakota County Parks survey about how I feel about their parks (ammenties, fees, what I’d like to see more of, etc). Under recreational activities they mentioned “geocaching” so of course I was immediately interested in filling this out ;) After searching their website for what seemed like forever and being unable to locate the online survey I filled out the one inside the flyer and intended on sending it in via fax today. I posted this to the MnGCA Forum and someone posted the link, available right there in front of my face on the Dakota County Parks website! Yeah, I suck :)
Dakota County Parks have been silently supportive of geocaching in their parks. With some of the largest parks in the area (Lebanon Hills in Eagan at 2,000 acres and Miesville Ravine Park Reserve in Cannon Falls at 1,700) without the “on-trail hiking” requirements that Three Rivers Park District has, the opportunities for large multis and beautiful hikes through unmaintained wilderness still exist. Woot!
So, if you’re interested, and you have visited their parks in the past, I highly suggest you fill out the survey. Please post a comment and say anything you want about their parks, I’d be glad to hear it :)
