Out at Aaron’s with Tim, Meredith, Matt, etc, etc for DUO Brewing Co’s tasting party.
The three guys from DUO Brewing (yes, that was an on-going joke at the party) had four beers on tap for us to try along with a bunch of custom etched glass pints to try from. The glasses, with a nice looked, were available for sale at $5/ea. Even though I originally told Aaron I wouldn’t buy one w/their logo, after seeing them in person, I did consider it before realizing I had no cash on my person.
Tonight they came with a bunch of beer. They offered their Milk Stout (the 2006 Minnesota State Fair winner for stouts and porters), Headshot IPA, MSP Ale, and the Virga Heffevisen.
The IPA was too bitter for my weak tastes and the Heffevisen was no where near as fruity as I’d like. This means nothing though as I really prefer darker beers or beers that aren’t bitter.
The MSP Ale (your typical amber) was very tasty and didn’t share the harsh alcohol aftertaste that I seemed to have with the other three. The Milk Stout, even with the sharp aftertaste, was by far my favorite. I’m a stout/porter guy and the chocolate/coffee tastes were thick. Mmm. The biggest reason I know that this was the best beer? Kim loved it and even went back for more! I’ve never seen her finish a beer, ever. That right there is the biggest compliment a non-beer drinker could have given DUO.
Thanks again guys for the great time and free beer. Good luck and keep up the good work!
