Here is a graphical representation of the State of Minnesota’s Level 3 Sex Offender database which you can view in a much less interesting format here.
BUYER BEWARE: the data used to generate this report is fluid in nature and I make no guarantees as to the accuracy of the reporting that lies below. That said, this data is updated regularly (probably weekly to begin with but it may go longer as I can’t imagine the L3 offender list grows quickly) and the charts are updated along with it. Please feel free to check back as often as you like:

Notes:
1. At this time, the data attempts to update itself 1x a day while I wait to see how often they make changes. I don’t see any reason to make it less than that at this time.
2. The map above only shows a small portion of Minnesota rather than the whole thing. I did this to avoid it zooming too far out. I do have data on all of those who are on the list available, I just chose not to display them as the majority of my readers are metro based and more pins = longer load times. I suppose if there is demand I can update that.
3. There are many other interesting metrics which I could do based on the data but I decided to leave it out for now and keep it fairly simple. They include some weird stuff like “skin tone” which I decided to leave off the reporting.
4. My dataset does have their image URLs but being that the data is not frequently updated, I decided that leaving stagnant photos of offenders wasn’t something I really wanted to do. I tried to add them to the map’s bubbles (which already includes their name and known/best guess address) but it wasn’t working.

This is great Bill. You have created a one stop shop for current crime information and statistics for Dakota and Scott Counties and mappings for all Level 3 Sex Offenders in the entire State of MN.

I’m amazed that there are only 4 sex offenders in my zipcode and another one just down the street but in the other zip code. I think the halfway house that used to be down the street from the elementary school closed.
I’d like to mention that the other limitation is that these are caught and convicted sex offenders. People shouldn’t feel like their neighborhood is safe just because they don’t have a sex offender listed here on their block. It is very likely that someone near you is a sex offender, maybe not a level 3 or maybe not as defined by society, but there probably is one near by.

These are just Level 3 convicted sex offenders. There are several hundred Level 1 and Level 2 Sex Offenders in Dakota County. If I am not mistaken over 700 in just Dakota County.

I think its worth pointing out that 12800 Nicollet Avenue South is in the Heart of the City, and while I dont have the info with me, if I remember correctly, the communication I just recieved about another level 3 offender moving into Burnsville listed an HOC address as well.
The mayor really knows how to build a neighborhood!

High density housing with low rent attracts sex offenders because they’re generally single and no one else wants to live with them. Being that the HOC sucks, they obviously will take anyone they can get their hands on.

I heard that Mayor Kautz was not at the sex offender notification meeting last night at Prince of Peace regarding our newest resident of B’ville. I’d love to hear why she wasn’t there, what with her being an awesome visionary leader, and all that.

Offense Information:
Offender has a history of sexual contact with adolescent female victims (age 13-16). Contact has included penetration. Offender gained access to one victim by meeting her at a social gathering just prior to offense behavior. Offender gained compliance through physical force & in one instance through use of an accomplice. Offender was known to victims.
Mayor Kautz must be so proud of her HOC and that the take up of Level 3 Sexual Offenders within the HOC is so appealing to these convicted level 3 sexual offenders.
It must be the pretty lights, hanging flower baskets, swimming pool, Performing Arts Center, and the pedestrian friendly neighborhood that influences their decision to move into the Burnsville Heart of the City.

It looks like this low traffic, deserted area also attracts cocaine users/dealers from Lakeville and Apple Valley.

You are correct Chad, this is the area by In a Fish Bowl which sells other things that would be related to drug use, Domino’s, Farmers Insurance, Adventure Zone – Paint Ball Accessories, Nail Salon.
I am sure they were getting a manicure and renewing their car insurance and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
