According to this article in the Star Tribune, a t-shirt designed by the class of 2009 at Eagan High School has the administration’s blood pressure rising — for no real good reason.
The t-shirt design which allegedly says, “Kiss Our Class Goodbye” — 09 was previously labeled as inappropriate by the administration and now that the Junior class has continued on with the ordering, against the wishes of people who are apparently too out of touch with reality, those wearing the shirts will be considered as exhibiting “willful insubordination” by school officials — whatever that means.
Now, to me, this is absolutely nothing like the Mankato High School t-shirts that are referenced in the Star Tribune article which are “.08 (We’re over the limit)”. You can check out more information on the Mankato shirts here at KSTP or here on WCCO.

Those shirts are a little more blatantly inappropriate for school wear although still clever enough that I have to at least respect the idea. I don’t condone wearing drug or alcohol related t-shirts in any classroom environment but to compare those shirts to the “Kiss Our Class Goodbye” design idea is simply asinine.
I’m not a parent but do remember high school well and just don’t see what the big deal is about the Eagan High Shirts. If you are a parent or you’re a humorless adult who feels that the t-shirts in Eagan are so horrendous I’d love to hear what you have to say below in the comment section.

I saw that too. I do agree that the alcohol one isn’t right for high schoolers but the EHS one is great I think! Very tongue in cheek without being inappropriate. It reminds me of a gal that ran for class president when I was in high school (at Burnsville)… She made a sign that said “Life will be a beach without Natalie as your class president” with a picture of a beach on it… School officials made her take them down and I believe they may have disqualified her from the race.
All I can say is “Lame”
On another note, Because of your blog I learned about the open mic nights at Luxury Sweets and will be there next Monday playing a few of my tunes so thanks for the heads up.

Ben,
Lame is right.
I checked out your posted songs and enjoyed them — I’ll do what I can to stop by and listen on Monday. Thanks for the heads up after I gave the heads up! How many songs will you be playing? They still sticking to the three song limit?

I’m not sure, because of what I read here I’m just planning on 3. Plus my friend who is the music director for La Luz Cafe (who is co-sponsoring the event) said that they’ve had 6 or so acts in the past I’d assume that’s all I’d get time for. I keep a few in my back pocket just incase though.

Ben, thanks and looking forward to seeing you perform.

So i am also in Eagans Class of 09 and pretty sure just becuase it’s gotten to be such a big deal even more people are ordering the shirts … the front of the shirts say senior girls but because this is now such a big deal boys might even start ordering the shirts just to piss of our admin. i talked to alot of the teachers and they say this is ridiculous and don’t want to fill out a bunch of paper work for over three hundred kids on the last day of school pretty much everyone who ordered the shirts are wearing them :)

S, I have gotten some e-mails about outsiders wanting the t-shirts. You might have an even larger market than just Eagan HS students…

Good lord. The shirt sounds pretty cute. I’m more concerned that kids aren’t learning to write a proper sentence. Did we do away with the English department at EHS?

That peanut sauce looks AMAZING.

I am also part of the Eagan High School Class of 2009 and I am getting a shirt as well. The admin. has approved shirts with other inuendos before such as, “Practice safe stats use a calculator”. None of the students are offended by the shirts, and they will continues to buy them. It is the parents and admin. who can’t keep up with society. The EHS admin. is going completly overboard atempting to control there students.

I am also apart of the class of 09 at eagan and we aren’t going to back down on this. What is said is that the school is just trying to get ahold of the school again. As everyone else has said it is no comparison to the mankato shirt and some of the people in the slass don’t even thinko fit in the innappropriate way.
