Back in June of 2004 I became a fairly early adopter. I was one of the few lucky people to get an invite to GMail (from Manu) and I was happy to begin using it right away to archive *all* of my e-mail.
Back then, I never thought I’d see the day when I finally reached their upper limit (at the time) of 1000MB (well, they said 1GB but I don’t know if it was the marketing 1GB of 1000MB or 1024MB like it should have been but we’ll go w/the marketing 1GB for fun).
I have been sending *every* *single* e-mail from my main account via procmail over to GMail. The only e-mails I delete there are bounces.
So, even though I thought it would *never* come, it only took 954 days or 2 years, 7 months, 10 days from 6/22/04 through today to hit the limit.
Luckily for me, over that span, Google has upped the total allowed from 1GB to its current (as of right now) 2812.302368 MB.
I guess if it took me 954 days to get here, it should take me at least another 1000 to get to 2800. Let’s just hope they keep going up ;)

Bill,
Thanks to you I have officially entered the Gmail universe. Someday I too will hit the 1G mark. Probably when I’m like 72. You own everyone. Have a great weekend.

Always remember with Google mail that big brother is watching you. ;) Which is why I use it more or less as a spamtrap.

Anything “important” doesn’t go over e-mail anyway. I’m less worried about Google reading my e-mail than someone reading it while it’s transmitted via SMTP ;)
