I went over to Potbelly Sandwich Works in Eden Prairie for lunch during work today. A fairly regular lunchspot for me due to its quick service and proximity, Potbelly offers a decent sandwich menu for a little too much money but I enjoy them quite a bit more than what I end up getting at Subway.
Anyway, today I walk in to find George Faber playing some blues live in the corner of the small restaurant. I had never seen live music being performed at this particular chain (in Minneapolis or Eden Prairie) but was pleasantly surprised none-the-less.
His acoustic guitar and harmonic based blues made the long line seem to move fairly quickly and I was slightly impressed with this music. He has a couple of recordings out: Circle Around a Circle, Self-Titled, and Faber Blues. While the sign on his amp was promoting his Circle Around a Circle album, he seemed to be playing his Faber Blues routine when I happened to be in the store. His site warns that Faber Blues is for “blues fans only.” I didn’t hear anyone complaining about the free show.
I was a bit disappointed that he took his break just after I sat down to eat but I hope to see him, and others, playing at this location in the future.
