Continuing to add to Google’s web spying dominance I have started to use their Analytics services on here. I had signed up for their beta a couple weeks ago and received my activation code yesterday. I found the introductory e-mail humorous:
Notice: If your site receives more than 5 million pageviews per month, you must have a linked AdWords account with at least one active campaign. Use Option 1 below to automatically link your AdWords account.
If your site receives more than 5 million pageviews per day, please contact us by replying to this message before signing up so that we can ensure proper capacity planning.
I’m glad to have 1.3 million pageviews a *year* so I guess it doesn’t apply to me ;)
Anyway, I added their script to Drupal’s “footer” and following instructions here, I added their script to the wrapper.footer.default file for my gallery.
It’s only been running since about 10PM last night but I already have some information computed — unfortunately mostly from my local machines (something that I filter out in my log files but that Analytics will still pick up on). They say that the information should be updated about every 24 hours (probably sometime overnight it seems) and I should have some more interesting pie charts, “Geo Map Overlay” information, and line graphs to show screenshots of.
I’m a stats whore (which is probably why I like geocaching so much) and this is just adding fuel to my fire. Woohoo!
