We probably spent close to $1000 but that was with the purchase of a new tablet and a new tv. We only got the TV as I got an unexpected bonus at work.

We spent about $100 for each of the 4 kids and about $80 for each other, for a total of under $600. $4200+ for Christmas gifts is insane. And who the hell would hide that stuff in the garage. If it’s jewelry, just shove it in a closet. And if it”s electronics, I would hate to have it stored in the garage with it being so cold. Of course, I can’t help but thinking, “A fool and his money…” or a fool and his excessive gift giving are soon parted.

I don’t add it up but I would have to win the lottery to spend 4,200. Looking back over the years we spend more now than in earlier years as we’ve been fortunate. Everyone in our house is pretty much spoiled all year so there is no need to go overboard at the holidays.

I think we spent under $300.00 for everyone. The large part of the budget is we spend about $40.00 on each of our 3 neices. I think we spent $24.00 on our kid for a few books since he doesn’t need anything. This year was about the least we have ever spent, which is totally fine with me. I don’t need gifts (and I got very few this year). The fun of being an adult is I can buy whatver I want when I want.

You buy an average gift(s) worth $212 for 20 PEOPLE? Every fucking year?!?

Holy shit. I thought the $50 used iPod I got my daughter from Pawn America was insanely expensive. Our ENTIRE 9-DAY annual road trip to Florida/Georgia budget (for 5 people) is only $1,700. That’s UP from $1,500 last year because we’re doing an extra day at the beach. $4,000 for “lots of clothes” and “some other things”? Wow.

What in the hell?

I’m sure they had to document the loss with receipts. We probably spend close to that – but buy for numerous people (20+). Also – our gifts would not fit in one box – no way. My kids received lots of clothes that they needed – and they did get some other things.

My family had a limit of spending $40 total. I also made rice crispy treats for my boyfriend, so I spent about $50 in all.

Holy crap. $4,200+?!? W….T….F?

Our budget was $575 and that was for, like, 72 people. My haul was four pair of socks (2 were SmartWool which is awesome). I must’ve married into the wrong family.

This must be the family that blindfolds the wife and takes her out to the driveway where there’s a new Lexus with a gigantic bow on it.

I’m pretty sure if you added up everything I personally own (not including house and stuff) and it wouldn’t add up to $4,200.

I don’t even know where to go with that.

I had an electric rider car for my grand kid under blankets in the garage. When we had kids in the home, the gifts went into bins stored under the stairs or on shelves. Our kids never know what they are getting, and historically we de-box things, and re-box in alternate sized boxes for their stuff. Even going so far as to wrap additional things in the box to make different sounds when shaking the present. (the good old days)

The garage is generally the last place to store something, especially if you open the door regularly. Criminals have been scoping out neighbor hoods watching for the boxes that get put out for recycle. Any TV’s, Computers, Ipads, Cameras causes that home to go on their list. I keep my cardboard in the house, and then load it all up and take it to the farmington cardboard bins that they have scattered around the city.

I set our total Christmas gift budget this year at around $400. My wife spent over $700. So yeah, that didn’t go well. Along with 2 grown kids we have her extended family and friends. Oh, and a grandchild, which is probably who my wife broke the bank for.

Wow, that is a nice haul for Christmas… and for Savage. We maybe broken $500 for the family and it was more than one box. Of course, kids toys are rather bulky. My guess is that the stolen box contained some some jewelry.

Interestingly no one at our house doesn’t know what they’re getting except Mrs s and I. We spend about $250-$300 per kid, mostly on clothes. Clothes they pick out. I spent $250 on a Mrs S on a Nespresso machine, which was a surprise, but she’s been eyeing her mom’s for 2 years. I think they spent $20 on me.. I got three shirts from JosBanks, which I learned later came from the 3:1 sale.

I only spent about $150-$160 total this year. But I only buy for four people and we choose not to spend a lot of money. I just put them in my closet since kids finding them isn’t an issue.
