Early this evening, on my way home from work, I passed by Kami Japanese Steakhouse and saw a sign out front that they were now hiring. Wanting to check on their progress, Kim and I took a walk over to my favorite Apple Valley created shithole, Founder’s Circle/Legacy Park/153rd, and took some photos of the work being done on the two newest restaurants in the area.
We walked into the building that houses both Jan’s Brown Bag Deli and the soon to be christened Kami Japanese Steakhouse. As I was walking up to the windows of Kami, two young women walked out of Jan’s and sat down at a table in the foyer of the building. One of the women remarked, to no one in particular, “that was the longest wait I’ve ever had for a simple sandwich.” Perhaps Janice should read and fix that little problem.
After laughing about the woman’s comment, I took some photos of Kami’s building progress. They might be hiring but there’s nothing inside but some building materials and dust. No expected opening time listed on their building yet like there used to be over on Two Guys from Italy before they took it down after missing two different expected opening dates.
We crossed the street and I remarked at the “brickwork” that Apple Valley has as crosswalks in the area. While driving over them you don’t really notice the fact that the “brickwork” is really just a bad paint job on the pavement. I can’t believe that they really have faux crosswalks on the fucking ground. Thanks for wasting tax dollars on something so fucking ridiculous and unnecessary.
I walked up to the windows at Two Guys from Italy and peered in. They have done quite a bit of work since the last time I was there in March but it is still no where near completion. After two missed opening dates (one published in the paper and the other published on their windows) at least they haven’t posted a new date for their opening. From the looks of the inside, I’d speculate May but they may surprise me ;)
See all the pictures from today here (mobile) and here (camera).
