It’s that time again. It hasn’t been “that time” in a long time (just under 4 years) but I’m afraid I have to do it. What do I have to do again you ask?
I have to do a clean install of Debian and start over from nearly scratch…
Bleh, I’m not sure why but I assume I have fucked up so much shit over the years that it finally caught up with me. Playing with “unstable” for the last four years bit me in the ass. All the installing, uninstalling, and futzing around took its toll on the system.
Now I can’t do apt-get upgrade anymore. I can’t compile stuff from source. I’m taking up space with X binaries that I never use anymore because I don’t use X on this machine. I have a ton of shit on the /usr partition taking up space from the rest of the machine that I just don’t need.
So that’s that. I’m going to bite the bullet and do my first Debian net-inst in nearly four years. Yes, I have 90% of what I need backed up already and it won’t take long to get it running again, but it still will take time.
I’m probably going to do it over the next couple of days here so if you see the site disappear, you know I’m working on the machine. I won’t have time for at least three weekends and with all the updates necessary, it looks like I’ll have to do it on a weeknight after work; perhaps I’ll even have to do it tonight.
Wish us luck.

Weird, now my CSS isn’t rendering correctly (yes, I know it doesn’t for IE users, you shouldn’t be using IE anyway) on Firefox :(
Weirdness abounds.
