Went out to Major’s Sports Cafe in Apple Valley for dinner. I wasn’t home all weekend and we needed to do some running around tonight, so this was a necessity.
We attempted to stop by on Friday night but after being greeted by a 90 minute wait, we decided to duck out and chose Rascal’s Apple Valley Bar and Grill instead. Apple Valley was packed, restaurant wise, on Friday but a 90 minute wait even for a “new” restaurant is a bit much IMHO.
Anyway, we’ve been to Major’s in Bloomington after WeekNIGHT Caching numerous times, mostly for Wednesday night wings and beer. Their .25 wings on Wednesday nights are much better than Buffalo Wild Wings but it seems the rest of their menu isn’t all that different than similar restaurants like Spectator’s Bar and Grille in Savage.
Our service tonight was excellent and friendly. I ordered their meatloaf and mashed potatoes and Kim went with their Blu Burger.
While I knew what I was in for, I was surprised that the $11 meatloaf didn’t come with any vegetable sides. A $3 salad addition didn’t seem right. Perhaps Major’s believes that the tomato sauce poured over the meatloaf should double as a veggie side?
Kim’s burger didn’t come with blu cheese but before we could ask for some, the waitress was already en route to our table with a cup full. Apparently the chef caught her and reminded her to bring it over to us. That was nice.
It’s likely that we will not return for dinner but we will probably take advantage of Wedneaday wings and their late night happy hour.

I first went to majors for drinks one night in Jan. 06; they were “out” of pretty much every drink I ordered. Next I went there for dinner in Feb. 06 the service was slow; and the server did not enter half our order. They did give us a free vocher to come back due to their mistake. I went back Tues. April 11th for lunch and sat for 20 minutes without any service at our table. I decided to leave, and informed the manager on my way out of the incident. He offered no compensation and just said sorry, and blamed the situation on someone else. The wait staff is horrible and the manager does not do his job of problem managment at all. Try valuing your customers Majors.

I went to Majors for the first time and was very disappointed. The service was poor, yet it wasn’t busy. The food was very generic. The most disappointing part of the dining experience was the practice of selling 12oz beer in a 16oz (pint) glass and charging pint prices. When this was pointed out to the manager, he quickly arrived at the table with a measuring cup of water and performed an embarrassing demonstration filling the glass to the top of the rim. His exclamation to us was “are you satisfied now.” I guess I’ll be taking my business back down the street and wait for this place to turn over again. It shouldn’t be long.

I guess I’m not sure I understand what you mean by filling it with water to the brim.

We went to Major’s tonight for WeekNIGHT Caching (and I picked it) mostly because of the close proximity to one of the stages of my caches.
I knew what we might be in for but it was still surprising to me that I had to ask the hostess to see about getting our waitress to return to bring us more drinks. Like WTF is that?
Dave ordered a burger, took one bite and didn’t touch the rest. I was surprised when the manager came over asked if everything was all right w/the burger and left w/o a word when Dave said it wasn’t very good. You would think he would have tried to remedy the situation.
Anyway, I *again* wasn’t impressed with Major’s even though I said we’d probably go back for wings and beer on a Wednesday.

NEVER have an event at Majors if you are under 40 years old. They treat young adults like crap, they give them poor service, they dont fill your requests, and they charge you a lot of money (8.00 per drink??? I dont think so..) even though your party spends an emense amount!

Oh they don’t discriminate… they treat everyone with the same horrible level of service regardless of age, sex, color or creed.
