The feral hemp that happily grows every summer in the Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve
Burnsville is at it again, trying to make themselves seem relevant. This time the Queen’s security forces are blabbering on and on about how the current medical marijuana bill is dangerous. Instead of keeping her fucking mouth shut, she’s agreeing with them. Unfortunately for her she’s making a bigger ass out of herself than usual.
The Star Tribune article offers several choice quotes from Kautz which, in all honesty, make her sound even more half-baked than she usually does:
1. “not a very good bill” (not a very good grammar)
2. “This bill would create significant harm.” (just like the drive through for a Heart of the Shitty Dunkin Donuts that she was apparently ranting about at her favorite restaurant Jo Jo’s Rise and Wine tonight)
3. “A state law should be in compliance with a federal law.” (please read the 10th Amendment, ok?)
So in response, a simple poll (Yes, No, N/A) for you: do you support the medical marijuana bill as it is currently written or do you side with Burnsville’s PD and believe that changes should be made to the text of the bill?
Aside from that, what do you think about Burnsville’s stance? Are they correct in making such a public stink about this? What do you believe their motivations to be? Are you for it or against it and why?
Medical Marijuana?
- Yes (80.0%, 35 Votes)
- No (16.0%, 7 Votes)
- N/A (5.0%, 2 Votes)
Total Voters: 44
Vote and then feel free to share your opinions on this issue and then be sure to check out our expired polls in the archive or read through the previous posts about polls here.

Just make marijuana completely legal – that would be a much simpler solution. Why do we need a complicated bill?

I agree with jf. Go all the way and make it fully legal, and I say this as someone who has never used it nor would ever do so. The law enforcement personnel who oppose it are either ignorant of history (Prohibition) or just want another reason to be able to arrest and search people.

Heeeeeeyyyyyyyy, Maaaaaaan – — – yeah – make it legal, Man – - – Why not?
Nothing better than a little bong action (see Michael Phelps) or Reefer Madness, Man!!
Hey – anyone have some munchies, Man????
Oh yeah – only for medicinal purposes, right, Man??
Yeah – an about them munchies, Man – ??
Seriously, legalize it – the incompetent lawmakers have already made it pretty much a victimless crime – isn’t it similar to alcohol?
Cheers, Man!

Maybe Elizabeth Kautz should harken back to the 2007 meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors annual meeting (I mean, after all, it SUCH an important group and she is ALMOST its president so we should vote for her, if I recall her election campaign correctly): “NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the United States Conference of Mayors believes the war on drugs has failed and calls for a New Bottom Line in U.S. drug policy, a public health approach that concentrates more fully on reducing the negative
consequences associated with drug abuse, while ensuring that our
policies do not exacerbate these problems or create new social
problems of their own…” At least one of her fellow members has also published a position calling for legalization of marijuana. Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke (Yale, Harvard Law – and where did Elizabeth go to college again????) indicated in 2007 to his fellow mayors: “I urge my colleagues to view the drug issue objectively and unemotionally. And if this examination leads to questioning the prevailing orthodoxy about the war on drugs, I wouldn’t worry unduly about the political consequences that might result. The voters, apparently, are looking for real solutions to this very real problem and are willing to hear about new approaches.” In other words Lizzie, nothing else has worked, so let’s give something different a try. Remember, sometimes it “takes courage to make difficult decisions….” (E. Kautz)

Shame on the Tribune for even publishing that article. Why is this even a story?

bb, it was taken by me in August of 2005 in Burnsville’s Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve about 300 feet from the outfield fences in Sue Fischer Memorial Park.
You can see where the group of trees that one of the 30+ foot tall plants was growing here.
They routinely burn the area to keep the growth down but they keep popping up. I reported this particular growth to the police and parks department but I have been back numerous times in the late summer, early fall, and found tons ready for seeding. I have also noticed that many of the obvious plants along trails are stripped of the flowers. I assume that semi-knowledgeable kids are ganking the flowers mistaking them for the real deal.

There was a little fight on TPT about this (we just happened to catch part of it) with law enforcement saying it won’t make it past the Governor’s desk and the legislature saying that they are confident it’ll get to public vote soon.
