This week there was a lot of talk about the huge jackpots that were out there especially for the record setting Mega Millions and the $142 million Powerball.
We don’t live in a state that offers Mega Millions but Kim’s entire family does. She gave her parents a call and they bought a ticket for us. They asked that we buy them a Powerball in return. I sent Kim out to pick up TurboTax at Walmart and to purchase $5 worth of Powerball tickets.
After she got home I imported 2005’s taxes and found out that we owe almost as much this year as we got back last year. I was really pinning my hopes on winning one of the two jackpots. Well, after finding out that it wasn’t going to happen w/our one Mega Millions ticket, I still held out hope on our five Powerball tickets.
We didn’t rush to check the tickets yesterday and knew when we pulled them out today that we weren’t going to be multi-millionaires. I still had some hope for at least a couple hundred because those tax breaks for the middle class apparently don’t apply to us.
No such luck though as we only picked up two numbers. I had better luck playing the nickel video poker in Vegas.
Oh well.
