Today Kim went on a tour of the Minneapolis Public Library and afterward found out about a pretty fucking cool deal: a free pass (good for a week) for numerous fun things to do around the metro including zoos, museums, historic houses, the Arboretum, etc.
You pickup a pass and “check it out” of your library of choice. It offers you a one week window of time to visit the destination of your choice and you don’t even need to bring anything back! This pass offers you four free admissions and for the Minnesota Zoo you even get free parking! You can continue to go back over and over again to visit all the locations that you want to see. The deal is good through September.

Kim nabbed a pass for this weekend to the Minnesota Zoo. She’s been bouncing off the walls all day looking forward to getting back there. I’m most interested in the Museum of Russian Art pass. I’m looking forward to it so much that I might go and grab a pass out from the Dakota County Galaxie Library so that we can go this weekend.
If you’re into free shit and you are looking forward to visiting a couple of nice sites across the metro this summer, check out a Museum Adventure Pass at your local library (over 100 libraries in 9 systems!)

This is a great deal! We took our 2 kids to the Science Museum with one of these passes last fall. Not someplace we would normally think of going, but what the heck, it was FREE! We had a great time and it would cost us about $40 with out the pass, in which case we never would have gone. You got lucky getting the MN Zoo pass, it’s always gone when I check!

Bill,
You did get lucky. I happened to be at the Plymouth library one Saturday morning when it opened and there was this kind of mad dash to the Adventure Pass kiosk. If you want to go, make sure you get there early to check out your pass. Very cool idea. Our tax dollars at work!

Linzy gets these passes quite often. They are nice, but the difficult part is getting a hold of a pass when you want it. Some of the more popular ones are tough to come by.

I make my own adventure passes, then I eat them before anyone can check them out. Then when someone says to me “Hey! Why’d you eat that? I could have used it to take my kids to the zoo!” I say “YOU’RE an adventure pass!” and giggle to myself.

That’s really too bad. I didn’t use the program myself, but I thought it was a good thing to have available for people.

I used the program once – to take my mom to the Zoo when she visited a few years ago. I didn’t realize that pass was in such high demand. Lucky for me that it was available on the first day I went to check it out. I’m glad they’re keeping the program for another year and giving people a chance to use it before it’s gone, rather than cutting it suddenly.
