Kim and I joined up with Kevin and his buddy for the Minnesota Rollergirls Fractured Innocence bout featuring the Atomic Bombshells vs. Garda Belts and the Dagger Dolls vs. Rockits.

First we headed over to Great Waters Brewing Co for food before the bout. I wasn’t feeling well at all (and in fact, spent all night awake and sick) and didn’t end up eating much of my burger at all :( I really enjoy their food and beer so it was a real bummer.

After braving the cold, we headed over to the Roy Wilkins Auditorium and were glad we were able to bypass the very long will-call and ticket sale line and go right in…

Of the three bouts we have been to (including the Minnesota Rollergirls vs. Ohio), this one was by far the most physical and exciting. Several fights broke out, lots of penalties, and much action. When the Rollergirls play against teams from other states the scores are not even close — we smoke the shit out of them. When they play against each other, the scores are much closer because their skills are more evenly matched.

We had never had seating in the upper balcony because we were always with Aaron who has trackside season tickets. This time, because trackside are all sold out for the season, we had to nab tickets upstairs. The view from up there brought a great perspective but the play seemed slower and you didn’t get to feel up close and personal with the skaters :(

From what I heard, they presold 2,800 of the record 3,700 total tickets sold. They usually pre-sell about 800 so this was a crazy crowded bout! They are certainly getting more people interested :)
