Occasionally, I get really strange e-mails from readers. Several have come from one person about Majors Sports Cafe in Apple Valley, MN about how they were dissatisfied with their food and service. They were obviously confused (on more than one occasion) about the purpose of this site.
This time, however, I have received an e-mail from an individual that claims to have reviewed restaurants on citysearch (I won’t even bother to link to their trash) and wants me to edit my pages because (from what I can understand) she doesn’t like the results of her search terms:
A friend forwarded a link to your website since I mentioned that I had
reviewed restaurants on citysearch. I quickly looked for a few restaurants
in the North Metro and in St. Paul (my stomping grounds). I was shocked at
the entry that came up when I searched under restaurants for Savoy’s Pizza.
Please look for yourself and edit, delete or do whatever you feel is proper.
Thank you.
P.S. Why doesn’t St. Paul or the North Metro get covered in your site? If
you look under citysearch for Savoy’s Pizza, or Red’s Savoy Pizza you will
literally get hundreds of entries.
And my reply:
1. I don’t need to edit anything. Your search terms landed you there because of “Park Savoy” (which has nothing to do with Pizza and isn’t even located in Minnesota) and Bostons the Gourmet Pizza in Maple Grove.
Even if those particular search terms ended up coming up with a review for Savoy Pizza, I still wouldn’t edit it.
2. St Paul gets covered occasionally see here: http://www.lazylightning.org/search/node/St+Paul%2C+MN
I live in Apple Valley and while I work in White Bear Lake, I don’t spend a lot of time visiting locations in North St Paul although I have eaten at the Pizza Factory twice.
Have a great day and you’ll find your e-mail, sans any personally identifiable information on my site shortly.
Bill
And her follow up:
That will be the only entry of mine that goes on your site!
North St. Paul and the North Metro are two different things.
I guess you cater to Minneapolis and Southern suburbs; no need for me to
submit content on the northern suburbs.
If you’re fine with the filthy language (Park Savoy) I doubt I will visit
your site again. The search tool is not very good. For instance nothing
came up for Carbones. But when I spelled it with an apostrophe a few came
up. Very inefficient! Back to citysearch!
Stupidity on the Internet never ceases to amaze me.

So, “offended reader” didn’t like the opinion Bill wrote about his feelings on a particular venue, or demographic region for that matter. Most of us think Bill is too overly critical about life in general and he should just suck it up.. Do I tell him to revise all his posts to conform to my opinions of what I think he should say?
*no*
A blog, or opinion based internet outlet such as this gives us ther great ability to use our 1st commandment.. or. Amenmdment is what I mean. You can speak your mind and give your thoughts on wherever it is you are visiting.
If this reader, or any other reader takes offense or disagrees with the opinions stated here so severely that it causes them great mental trauma, they have the option not to return to read more posts..
I support Bill in his blogging efforts, as while I think he’s a tad critical at times, he gives a pretty damn fair review to places he visits.
That’s my .02, so I’ll wait for someone to tell me to edit my opinion now too.
