The last poll about allowing a drive-through in Burnsville’s Heart of the City for a possible Dunkin’ Donuts was a pretty one-sided affair. The overwhelming majority said that they believe that the HOC needs to allow a drive-through for a business like Dunkin Donuts. Not surprising for anyone except those, like Mayor Elizabeth Kautz, who pretend that her policies are good ones.
Anyway, on to this week’s poll. In case you don’t already know, next week is Mother’s Day and this is your 7 day warning to buy something for mom if you haven’t already. I’m interested in knowing what you get your mother for one of the biggest Hallmark holidays of the year. I’m more of a card and phone call kind of son but I have sent flowers when I was dumb and forgot a card or when I had the money to spend. When I was searching around on the web I came across Etsy’s hand-picked Mother’s Day gift options which I know some people would love to jump on. There has to be some inventive Mother’s Day gift ideas out there so what are they? What are you getting Mom this year?
For the actual poll I picked a couple of options ranging from candy to nothing but left open an “other” option. Feel free to pick whatever it is you do get your mother and/or comment on below and tell us what fits into the other category. After that, feel free to share your favorite Mother’s Day brunch in the South Metro. I know plenty of people are always searching for them so if you know of any other than what I listed for Easter, feel free to let us know.

I will buy flowers, but I never buy cards. They are not my words or feelings. Mabey a hand written note with the flowers. Ok, I might read one of those cards to get an idea of what to write.

I’m not sure about my mom…some inspiration usually hits.
Having kids, I have to coordinate their gift to mom…this year, they’ll be taking mom (and dad and mom’s mom) to the Twins game. All parties involved are very excited.

Complicating my life, Mrs. Mooses’ birthday is a couple of days after MD. So, I have to shop for two significant national holidays. Thankfully, this year she gave me a list. The girls are also old enough to pick out their own gifts for mom. I just have to pay for them, naturally. Hey, how come they don’t buy their mom loud ties that light up and play music?

This year, I’m picking my mom up from the airport on Mother’s Day, because I live 5 minutes away, whereas she lives 45 minutes away (and never wants to park at the airport, because she’s … thrifty like that).
Also, we’re getting our moms DQ cakes this year (I think). Last year we did flowering plants (from a florist – 1800 flowers maybe?) that they both loved.
And to piggyback on the Mooses, we have family birthdays on the 11th and 13th, so there’s a lot of gifting going around.

It’s actually a tulip. Sitting on a greeting card, laying on top of a marginally successful skin graft scar.
