Thanks to Aaron for this link from today’s town hall style meeting for McCain in Lakeville taken by the great citizen journalists over at TheUptake:
So, what do you think about our neighbor’s comment? I really want to know.

Our neighbor is a typical ignorant idiot, like far too many in this country…the reason that we are looking at a potential President McCain and Vice President Palin despite the fact that there is NO reason either of them should be within 20 points in the polls. Vote against Obama/Biden because you disagree with their POV on the issues, that’s fine…but to vote against him/them because of ignorance, well that’s what got us 8 years of the current clown in the White House. Ignorance.

Update: They just featured this woman, and another of our ignorant neighbors at the Lakeville rally, on Keith Olbermann (MSNBC) just now. Multiple these ignorant idiots by thousands, and you see what we REALLY have to fear in the country.

The woman is an idiot. I heard around noon today that there were 100 tickets left for the rally. You had to commit to volunteer a couple of hours to get a ticket. I’m guessing that McCain/Palin don’t want too many volunteers like this lady.
It is clearer every day why we need Obama in the White House. McCain would be more of the McSame.

I think these comments are dead on. It’s unfortunate that so many people buy in to the lies about Obama but it’s actually refreshing to see McCain set his supporters straight. I think he’s starting to realize that the damage is done and he’s taken a gentler tone in person but not with his TV ads. Maybe he’s itching for a cabinet position being this is his last chance.

I hope she was confusing “arab” and “muslim”, although he’s not a muslim either.
October 11th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
She (and THOUSANDS of ignorami like her) think that all Arabs are Muslims, and vice versa. And that all Arabs/Muslims are terrorists. And that Barack Hussein Obama is one of them. The ignorance and stupidity of a large chunk of our population in this country is astonishing…and unfortunately, all too real.

I think there are a couple things at work here.
1) Barak Obama is “different” from the average Republican (and dem) voter on more than just the obvious.. although the obvious counts too. He has a weird name, he has a different background, so the “seeds” question are all ready there.
2) Because of this, it only takes a few comments on right wing talk radio, a fundraising newsletter to the party faithful, perhaps a talking point or two to get the blogsphere and the emails and the “what the liberal media isn’t telling you” chain emails to get people talking about this and believing this tot be the case. There’s an awful lot of people out there who think he IS Muslim thanks to this stuff.
It’s coordinated and deliberate missinformation and because of Obama’s differences it gets traction.

What really gets me is when Obama and other Democrats stand up and say, “Well, we think America is smarter than that.” Well, no, they’re not. As George Carlin once said, “Think about how stupid the average person is, and then realize that half the people are stupider than that.” The Republicans realize this truth, and are playing to it. Get ready for President McCain and VP Palin…now THAT’s scary.

In case that link did not work, the link points out that Beverly Hills Chihuahua is number on at the box office for the second week in a row. Never underestimate how stupid people are.

When I read about her comments, I cringed and was embarrassed that people from other states are hearing about Minnesota in such a negative way.
As for Chad’s comment re: Beverly Hills Chihuahua, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it :)

Beverly Hills Chihuahua #1 two weeks in a row. American Idol, top rate show, Deal or No Deal.. a “game” show that has completely eliminated skill from the equation, Britney Spears antics leading the evening news..
The country might just not be worth saving.

My two cents (and few rums) is this.. Who cares, man, women, arab, american, black, white.. whatever. As long as they are genuine in their intent for the betterment of the USA, that is what matters. Why can’t we as American’s, living in one of the most diverse land masses on the third planet from the sun, remove the barrier of gender, race, and religious background. what is this, third grade, where all the boys have cooties or something? christ! oh wait, I shouldn’t have said that, I won’t be voted for for Homecoming King due to my lack of respect for a Holy name. fine.. FSCK. there.

Who’s right next to the lady, smiling in agreement as McCain grabs her mic? Why, it’s 2nd CD Congressman, John Kline! And one row up, grinning right along, Hennepin County Sherrif Rick Stanek! At least the person sitting next to Stanek has the decency to hang his head in shame (is that Tim Penny? If so, he should be embarassed,) at the commentator’s tastless ignorance/racism.

About Penny: I meant _I’m_ embarassed, for having supported his bid for Governor.
