Last week’s poll asked what kind of pie you liked best. One of the options was “pizza”. We have had several pizza polls on this site but we never voted on how you liked it cut.
Here in Minnesota they seem to feel that it’s completely ok to have a “party cut” pizza where they cut it in little squares without crust on most of the pie. Everyone else in the civilized world when cutting pizza into squares allows for crust on each piece so you don’t burn your hands and face on the cheese and sauce (no, you do NOT eat pizza with a fork). And aside from pizzas that are meant to be square, like Old Forge pizza, the rest should be cut in pie wedges. Mmm, pie.
So how do you prefer your pizzas cut? Do you eat your pizza with a fork and thus don’t care? Have you seen any pizzas in Minnesota which are cut into squares and have crust on each piece? Whatever you have to say about cutting your pizza go ahead and comment on below and then vote on the sidebar.
After you do both of those things feel free to check out our expired polls in the archive or read through the previous posts about polls here.

I voted squares because Bill hates it. It all depends on the type of pizza on how I like it cut. My husband prefers edges and I like the inside pieces. That would be for the thin crust, Carbone’s style pizza. On Neapolitan style, I like wedges because I like their type of crust. I like the chew and the char. On deep dish, I don’t eat the edges, too much dough for me, but squares would be difficult to manage.

Wedges. Not that I would pass up pizza cut in squares — it’s still pizza — but wedges are much easier to eat.

i like my pizza pies cut in wedges. Fruit pies should be cut into squares.

Wedges are best, but my favorite pizzas are deep dish and are so thick that I’d never think of eating them without a fork–unless I’m eating them cold for breakfast the next day.

Depends upon the pizza. I love all sorts of pizza styles – I consider tham to almost be different foods from one another, sort of like lasagne vs. spaghetti. Thin, crispy pizza can be great cut into squares; I grew up with Pizza King pizza cut into squares. They put spicy ground pepperoni on their pizza, the sauce was very thick and spicy, and the crust was thin and crispy. It was a totally different animal and really good. There are so many great styles of pizza – I love that!

I have to say I just don’t care. I live with pizza how I get it. I’m not a neat enough person to worry about a little pizza sauce or cheese on my fingers, so lack of crust is no problem. Maybe it’s because I have really always been with a family. Either when I was living at home, or shortly after graduation, starting my own family. Thus I never got into the single slice mode.
All that said, if I’m cutting up my own pizza (home made, or frozen) it’s wedges. Squares just wouldn’t seem right?
The only pizza I don’t eat all the crust on is pan pizza. I’d be full with only one piece of some deep dish pizza and much of that wasted eating crust rather than yummy cheese and sausage.

Square cut, unless it is a very thick pizza. For Pizza Friday they are almost always square cut. It makes more pieces and when you have lots of people and lots of pizzas, it lets everyone try each one that comes out.

I am far more concerned with the quality of the pizza than how it’s cut.
And it’s so damn hard to find good (nevermind great) pizza in this state.

I have in some cases been served pizza whole with a fork and knife. It is kind of a lot of work.

I’m not a huge fan of crust so I like squares because it has all the yummy parts – sauce, cheese, toppings without the huge piece of crust (blah). Though, I will tolerate a nice rising crust pizza for Mr Marco’s benefit – he’s from NY, I’m pretty sure pizza is some sort of religion out there.

When I eat at Punch, I order it uncut. That way I ensure that whatever nasty ingredients may be on the pizza cutter don’t impart their subtleties on my pie.

I firmly believe that pizza should be eaten with your hands at all costs. If you want to use a fork, order pasta.
Don’t care how the pizza is cut, as long as it cna be eaten with your hands.

Wedge.

Wedge is the correct answer.

I understand why the purist would prefer wedges, but squares are so awesome. You get to eat a lot of pieces that way. Take some of them east coast wedges that need to be folded in half to eat. A guy can only eat one. I love eating 23 pieces of pizza.
