Kim and I exchanged gifts last night over a dinner of stuffed portobello mushrooms, grilled asparagus tips and polenta. We had a great time and we both ended up with some nice gifts for each other.
I bought Kim two Godiva chocolate covered strawberries. I really wanted to get her the half-milk half-white ones but they were only offering dark or milk. I also got her two pieces of strawberry cheesecake chocolates that looked delicious. I heard no complaints about those treats so I guess they were :)
I went over to Old Navy and saw a really nice red sweater on sale that I knew would make Kim’s face brighten up. I also picked her up a game she had on her Amazon wish-list, Pit. She explained it to me and while it sounds boring I’m sure it will be quite a bit of fun when we get a couple of us playing.
I looked for a romance novel she was interested in but I couldn’t find any copies at Barnes and Noble and because I’m a last minute shopper I didn’t order it from Amazon in time. She’ll live — she has enough books.
Kim owned me with some great gifts including more used books from the Xanth series (I am missing only a few now), the first season of Rescue Me (from my wish-list), Sellevision (also from my wish-list), some sugar free candies (gum, twizzlers, and some Werther’s Originals — although they can’t be original if they’re sugar free!)
I started reading Sellevision last night (as I’ve enjoyed all of his other books that I’ve read) and was instantly into the book. I had to tear myself away and head to bed. I’m sure I’ll finish it tonight and get into some of the other books I plan to read over the next few days.
This morning I got to work and had several treats and gifts from co-workers. Andy owned me with The New Pornographers album Mass Romantic from the Amazon music store. Natasha had a bottle of homemade spicy olive oil with more red peppers than I can ever imagine putting into a bottle this size! There were also some candies and other treats that I passed off to others so I wouldn’t be tempted to cheat :)
Enough about me, what did you all get?!

Sounds like you guys had a very nice Christmas. I got a Wii and a trip to San Antonio. It was nice to get away from the cold for a few days!

Tearitup,
Congrats on the Wii. Kim and I are big board game players and I asked her to do some research on two player games we can play together. The list is fairly short. With the Wii we would be able to play some more games together (I have a PS2 and an N64 but neither have games she would be interested in). Perhaps that would be better for us.
I wish I was spending time somewhere warm. We went to Las Vegas last year at Christmas but took off to PA to visit my parents in their new home this year. It’s nice to be home and spend time with them — it’s been over 5 years since I’ve been to my hometown for more than a long weekend.
Take care,
Bill

The Wii is great. There are definitely some good 2-person games for it. Even the starter games that it comes with are fun. I’ve had a lot of fun with bowling and golf. Even Super Mario Galaxy can be set up for 2 player cooperative play.
How do you like Vegas? I might be going there for the first time later this year.

Vegas was ok. We aren’t gamblers but there was enough stuff to see and do to keep us busy for a few days. I really have no desire to return (I’m more of a beach vacationer) and there are plenty of other places to see first before I need to repeat :)
You can view some of the pics I took here: here.

We aren’t gamblers either. :> We did hear that there are other things to do and see so we thought we’d give it a shot. I’m glad to hear you confirm that fact. We usually vacation in the Keys for a couple weeks each year but for 2008 we decided to break up our trips and see a few places we haven’t been to before. We started early with the trip to San Antonio. Seattle will probably be in there too and maybe Mexico. Another place we’ve never been. Nice pics by the way.

I can’t suggest that you spend more than three or four days in Vegas as you’re likely to run out of things to see. Plenty of my coworkers return year after year for a week at a time and love it but there is only so much to do and I get bored repeating the same sights over and over.
My wife and I vacation on Hilton Head Island in SC almost every summer (we went to a nearby nearly uninhabited island about 30 miles North last summer) but that’s a beach thing and I have plenty of time invested in doing nothing :) In the 20 years I have been going there (and the 7 or so that my wife has been going with me) we haven’t ever gotten bored — to each their own :)
We’ve visited a bunch of states in the last four years and we’ll be adding several more this spring when we tour New England together. Should be exciting — especially if the weather doesn’t choose to cooperate :)

My thoughts on Vegas exactly. I don’t think it’ll hold my interest all that long. On the other hand I can’t resist the lure of the ocean and never get bored at the beach.
I hear nice things about Hilton Head. I’ll have to check it out one of these years. It sounds like you enjoy it for the same reasons we go to the keys.
I think you’ll really enjoy New England. I lived there (Rhode Island and Vermont)before I moved to MN. My family is all still out East. It really is a beautiful part of the country.
Happy new year to you both. It looks like you’re having a fun holiday break. :>
