Our ever so diligent City Council has decided to allow the addition of yet another pointless big box store to our town. This time it will be located near where the now defunct Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store is currently located (corner of Florence Path and Flanders Trail in the “Fischer Marketplace”). According to the minutes here they approved a building permit for a 20,389 square foot Staples store.
Awesome! As if Office Max over by Best Buy and Target isn’t enough, we really do need a Staples right next to three hundred other big box stores so that people can have “choice”. This is almost as awesome as the second SuperTarget in Apple Valley!
Boo Apple Valley City Council, another awesome mistake on your part. Thanks for continuing to make our community far more ticky-tacky than I ever thought humanly possible.

Dear Bill,
Thanks for your vigilance! What would the city council do if it didn’t have critical thinking citizens like you to keep watch over it. You should run for the city council. You know they say that you can’t fix a sinking ship from the outside. You need to get on board and bail water. I could run your campaign. I did do a little politics when I was in high school. You could run on the “No more big box stores!” platform. You would own everyone!

Andy,
Correction, *we* would own everyone! Muhahahaha!

Big news. Staples is a great store, much better service, offers and prices than Office Max. I wonder how long Office Max will stay open? Whats bad with competition?

That’s seriously like saying that because we have a CVS and a Walgreens nearly on every opposite street corner in the Metro that there is competition in the drugstore market.
*clapping* for cluelessness!

As I’m newer to your site, Bill, I haven’t caught the meaning behind “lazy lightning”. But if you ever consider a new URL, I’d like to nominate clappingforcluelessness.com.
Classic.

MSPD,
It’s a Grateful Dead song reference (the full hostname of the site is actually supplication.lazylightning.org which is a bit backwards) as the Dead used to play Lazy Lightning > Supplication and it’s one of my most favorite jams they do — thus the name of the site.
If someone hasn’t already registered it by now, I’ll think about it ;)
