I happened to read MNSpeak today and noticed that there was some discussion about Google News’ relatively new “local news section”. I subscribed to the feed a few days ago and have found that it duplicates almost everything that I get from the Pioneer Press and Star Tribune’s local feeds as well as what I gleam from ThisWeek Online, the Rosemount Town Pages and the Minnesota Sun’s Apple Valley section.

I’m fairly big into Google’s offerings and find that the local news feed is a little disappointing but not quite as much as having the Star Tribune put news about the Minnesota Northstar commuter rail line in the South Metro section.

Maybe they were confused with all the Dan Patch Corridor discussions that have been happening in the South Metro?
