This past week we stayed at the Royal Plaza Hotel a “Downtown Disney Resort”.
I wish I could count the number of things I despised about this hotel but I lost count after 10. I’ll go with the ones I remember best and you can draw your own conclusions from there about why this overpriced, overrated, and shit hotel is so popular:
1. Our room smelled like a locker room.
It wasn’t a smoking room and my parent’s didn’t smell. There was nothing hiding out under the beds that we could see and nothing obvious to make it smell like shit.
I could only guess, from the *wet* sliding windows, that it was musty from the moisture in the room caused by Florida’s weather and a poor seal on the sliding door.
2. The staff had their noses so high in the air that they couldn’t be bothered with us — unless they were selling you something.
They nearly jumped over the concierge counter when we first arrived to sell us theme park tickets but when you wanted to voice your concerns over various shortcomings in the hotel, they just ignored you.
Nice touch.
3. There was *no* free Internet in the building.
My father was able to nab wifi signal on their side of the building from the Doubletree nearby. With the cost of the hotel being as high as it was and the fact that they charge you an $8/day “resort fee”, you would think they would have the common decency to give you an Internet connection.
Nope, $10/day or $44.95/week. LOL.
When my father asked the manager about it, she replied, “our guests don’t care about that.” LOL. When I asked the staff this morning about it they replied, “no one around here has free Internet.” Lies! Nice.
4. The staff was *rude*
When checking in, and confronted with the $8/day resort fee, I asked why it didn’t include Internet and was given snotty, rude, and incorrect information and when I asked the woman behind the counter why she felt the need to have such low customer service standards, I was given another snotty remark.
I do NOT recommend that anyone stay at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Lake Buena Vista, FL and instead you should check out any of the other fine establishments in the area.
In fact, you’ll do better at a Motel 6, at least they tend to have free wifi.
