On Wednesday night, I met up with the WeekNIGHT Cache Crew at Time Out Restaurant & Sports Bar in Eagan.
It was too cold to go caching on Wednesday (temps have been well below 0F at night) and I really have been kinda in the crapper with regards to caching as of late. After doing 139 shitty caches in the Green Bay/Appleton, WI area over Martin Luther King weekend, I just couldn’t care to find another cache any time soon (thanks Wisconsin cachers for burning me out!)
Anyway, I arrived at the bar a bit early and they were ready for us with two tables shoved together that stretched for quite some distance. The restaurant and bar areas were fairly empty (the place is kinda in the middle of no-where residentially at least) and I was seated quickly.
I ordered a Guinness and thought I’d have a few minutes to look over the menu thoroughly but found the group trickling in soon after my beer arrived. I was too busy talking to get a good feel for the menu but I chose quickly (and luckily well).
I ordered their Roasted Cornish Hen which was described as a whole marinated and spiced roasted Cornish hen, served on a bed of white jasmine rice and vegetable
medley and accompanied with homemade cranberry sauce. I also nabbed a salad which was decent and a good size.
The Game Hen, while overall excellent, was a bit bony (as should be expected) and a little on the small side. The vegetable medley wasn’t your typical corn, peas, and carrot mixture but instead was a nicely grilled vegetable selection that included squash and zucchini, carrots, and broccoli. Mmm.
While I was impressed with my meal, their Guinness pours lacked something to be desired and while I was too busy chatting to make my displeasure known as I have done in the past with restaurants like Copper Bleu.
If you’re looking for a very new sports bar packed with lots of flat screens, a good beer selection, and great food, this would be the place for you — unless of course you are anal and demand a great Guinness pour like I do ;)
