The second nasty thunderstorm in a week uprooted trees along Garrett Dr in Apple Valley and I took some photos (forgive me for the blurry ones) as we were driving along on our way back to the house. One family was already out cutting up a downed tree in their front yard with a chainsaw. I was worried about my vegetable “garden” on the porch but thankfully they survived just fine and while there were two downed trees in our development, nothing happened to our side.

Our office lost power during the storm as the tornado sirens went off and let’s just say that our office’s basement is messy and that surprisingly few office workers have a flashlight in their desk.

It was pretty nasty out there today.. I happened to be at La Luz having lunch when the storm clouds rolled in..
I drove home down county rd 46 to Rosemount and was lucky not to hit another car stopped on the side of the road (or stopped in the middle of the road!)
I pulled in the garage and the garage door would not go down automatically due to all the wind and water hitting the sensor “eye”.. I had to manually close it
Then like 20 minutes later it was all gone and starting to get sunny again..
I drove over to Burnsville Center about 4 and saw some fences blown down or at least damaged along 46 in Apple Valley as well as some debris here and there along the way..
The weather people are predicting another round of storms on Friday night.. batten down the hatches!

It was my day to work from home. I live in a U-shaped apartment building, with my apartment facing the courtyard, the wind and rain were so fierce I couldn’t see the other side of my building’s U. I took some lame viedo of it with my poor little camera, but no damage pictures. It did rip off a bumper from someone’s car though.

Dawn, where’s the video?! :) I can’t believe it ripped off a bumper, that’s crazy.
Many of the downed trees were cleaned up today with several cut into manageable pieces and thrown to the curb and one set back up in its spot, held in place by a stake and a yellow rope, with the earth trampled back down and looking like nothing happened.

There. All my lame pictures and videos. I don’t know how to turn the one video so it’s vertical. You’ll have to suffer.

Awesome! I’ll check them out again when I get to a real computer as I can’t view video while mobile and the pictures are a bit to small to enjoy :)
I should have brought my plants inside today following the word that it might happen again today. I have a feeling I won’t be as lucky as I was yesterday.

Holy shit dawn, that video is nuts.

I know, right? It was almost scary, and I’m no fearful chick.

Holy cow Dawn. It almost looks like a mist & not rain! Crazy!!
For me, the wind caught the front storm door of our house and tore it off, with the exeption of one corner. So, we took the entire door off & will be making a trip to Home Depot over the weekend.

Tasha, ouch! Kinda ironic that your storm door would get torn off during a storm :(

dawnmarie, that looked crazy! I’m glad I was not there.
I was at work in Bloomington when we were evacuated to the basement. After reading Sornie’s comment, I’m bringing a flashlight to the office. It was bad enough in the basement with almost no air circulation. But, to have it dark because of a power outage? No way!
